1. How is the season going so far?
Respected GM : I think it's going as well as it can be to be honest. We have been hit really hard by the injury bug this year with about 6 or 7 guys being injured over the course of the season. We haven't had too many sims with a full squad. Luckily, I used a 50 day injury on LJ three years ago so I should be in the clear to use it on Don Reid when he gets up on 50 days.
Not sure how good we really are as our schedule has been really easy thus far and we have some holes on the team that I see. I have been trying to shop my draft picks the last two seasons and no one really wants them so it's time to get creative.
DBW : Not great for me. I'm really lacking assets after losing Pippen for nothing, so it's really important I draft high but I'm sitting at 15-14. There are way too many awful teams in the league if this trash squad can be over .500. Aside from that, I'm very happy that Rashard Lewis looks like a future star.
douche : Well I was away first 2 sims were mediocre, I havent fbb in like 4 months so it has been fun. The high after detox definitely real
2. Are the Nuggets the favorites currently?
Respected GM : I am not sure if they are the runaway favorites. Both the Bucks and the Hornets look really strong in a relatively weak Eastern Conference. Then there are teams who are a piece away from being really challenging those guys. Those three teams for sure.
I think the Hornets have the most flexibility out of those guys to really add pieces to help so I like them right now but it's close between these guys.
DBW : Yeah, the Nuggets should win after getting Pippen. There aren't that many good teams in the league, so trading for the best stars possible like Braz has should guarantee a win. No clue why Mouse would just give it away like that. I think if he was patient he would have eventually found a big with his 03 1st. I think he could have won this year.
douche : I guess so, Mavs took a step back losing a top 5 player Pippen and a good starter in Coleman so yeah prob kudt right, Braz is the most persistent dealer probably eclipsed Skillz so hats off
3. Should the CY have returned as was, not at all or with changes?
Respected GM : I am not really seeing the influx of guys on the WL that would change the situation from a couple seasons ago. With that said, I do think it is necessary to have some type of incentive not to tank for 4 or 5 years.
I am fine with it being in place but would like to see some type of stated contingency for teams who miss CY but we don't have adequate people on the WL to fill the spot. Maybe a cut FA the following season from the roster or a need to hit 50 wins in the 5th year, etc. I think it's important that guys are tied into some type of punishment, but I don't want to lose active guys as well.
DBW :: I'm still abolish CY gang but I'm cool with Spence bringing it back. He probably feels there's been enough of a grace period going into season 5. I still think that 1st CY is going to be tough because the rookies coming in can't compete with the creation players. It would be nice if we came up with something for the 5th year, like winning 50 keeps you in. It's been mentioned here a lot.
douche : Yes I loved CY it makes sense, we have a GM Pool of GMs anyway thst wanna join so make sense.
4. Speaking of rules, should we have any positional rules?
Respected GM : So, I am a staunch advocate of no positional rules at all. With this sim engine being so archaic I would like to be able to maximize creativity with rosters....I believe it provides the most fun for GM's team building. There's too much complaining from GM's historically on how things need to be changed because they don't benefit their specific situations rather than trying to evolve and build their teams based on what they believe provides the most successful outcomes.
With respect to the realm of current rules, it is becoming increasingly gray to me what constitutes a SF that is allowed to play SG and what constitutes one that cannot. I don't understand what allows Scottie Pippen to play SG and why Rick Fox cannot. I guess Pippen was a SG in the original file so he can interchange? If this is the case, we are 5 seasons in and we can't expected to know all these players who can interchange at this juncture. Maybe there isn't a rule anymore and I am and idiot, could be the case.
DBW : I think Spence is doing fine making positional changes at his discretion. I think it's obvious which players he'll allow to be moved and which ones he won't. I think the goal is to eliminate access to having an A- rebounding SF/SG/PG and he's doing that.
douche : Nah bring back positionless fbb imho make it more interesting to coach. Have a set limit this guy cant play SG etc etc but let players move down.
5. Draft file dropped. Any stand outs before notes?
Respected GM : Looks like a really strong draft class, I like a lot of guys here. Not too many standouts without notes thus far, I will be looking forward to reading them.
DBW : I'm not sure I see a stand out, I'm seeing way too many C, C+ and B- ratings . Of course for names I am excited for Gilbert Arenas and Joe Johnson. I guess I like the ratings for Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph. Curious to see their notes.
douche : The gimmick bigs stand out the usual suspects well theyre what you expect so not them.
6. What are your opinions on the drafts currently? Are they too weak compared to the creation draft players?
Respected GM : I mean there definitely was an egregious issue with the draft file loading up way too much potential on certain older players. There's a lot of really old IRL Rockets who are very dominant in this league when they shouldn't be. Hakeem, Barkley, Pippen, Drexler to name a few. Hakeem shouldn't be this dominant at 38. It's kind of up to Spencer to understand what the potentials are of the guys in the file as an aggregate and then make rookie classes somewhat comparable.
I would not know the first thing on how to do that though and I would gather it's not an exact science. I find the draft classes to be quite fun, however I have pretty much have had teams of creation draft guys so I am not sure I have the most informed opinion on this.
DBW : The drafts are clearly too weak. The ratings are low and the notes are sad. Feels like Spence pulled back on potentials as well. Funny enough it seems like the 97 guys (Duncan, Billups, McGrady) are the main players that can actually compete with creation guys. Maybe we need to be patient with the 98 and 99 guys, but a lot of them look bad to me. 00 was dead on arrival other than Hedo and …..Joel Pryzbilla?
douche : Yes, they are too weak but Spence prob going for a deflated league
7. Which players have the most value currently?
Respected GM : It's kind of weird because I am not sure. You have guys incorrectly devaluing solid 30+ year old guys while valuing other solid 30+ year old guys.
It seems like the PG talent in this league has leveled up quite a bit since S1. You're constantly seeing trade blocks for guys looking for bigs trying to deal wings. Any type of rebounding, stocks BIG should have the most value at this juncture.
DBW : Shaq is #1 to me still. Then you have all of the other creations guys, Kobe, Penny, Zo, Jason Kidd, Cyber Toine, Ray Allen, Hill, AI and I know I'm missing a lot here, this is off my head. Then you can throw in draftees like Duncan, McGrady, Billups, etc.
douche : Kobe Bryant, young, name, ratings. Production aint there yet but he have the best value maybe KG top 3 after that +15 pot.
8. Any players in the league you think are underrated or used incorrectly?
Respected GM : I think Larry Johnson if he played the 3 would be the most dominant player in the file.
DBW : I'm not sure I've been paying enough attention to identify someone that isn't being used correctly. I will say someone should have traded for Murda Mook off the Blazers ages ago. He's too good to just sit there.
douche : Ive been here for a week not that sure yet
9. Been a lot of talk about the NBA All-Star Game and All-Star Weekend in general. Is there a way to fix it or does it just need to go?
Respected GM : With talks of expansion, I would love to see it played in cities without NBA Franchises. Bring it to Las Vegas, Nashville, Kansas City, Vancouver, etc.
DBW : I had the most fun maybe ever watching All-Star Friday and Saturday but I was with people so I know that added to it, especially on Friday. Saturday was cool though, Steph vs Sabrina was exciting, 3pt contest was fun. The dunk contest was ass but I give Jaylen a lot of respect for showing up as an all-nba player. I think we've just seen everything the league has to offer as far as dunks. They might need to go outside of the league to get crazy dunkers. The all-star game is absolute garbage though. The players don't compete and don't even showcase their athleticism anymore, they just shoot 3s. I'd be fine if they cancelled that.
douche : King of the court, one on one, hell maybe even a 3x3 since its an olympic sport now well fix is players should try, is ASG for homecourt in finals too much idk thinking out lous
10. What’s your guilty pleasure restaurant and meal?
Respected GM : I don't really eat fast food, especially burger joints.....however when I travel to Texas or West my first stop is always In-N-Out burger and a couple double-doubles.
DBW : There is this local BBQ spot called Tennessee BBQ, I would eat that shit 3 times a week if diabetes and hypertension didn't exist. I usually get a Memphis ribs and chicken combo with mac and cheese, coleslaw and cornbread. Good eats.
douche : Even if I give my philippine recommendation yall wouldnt get it so just fast food Jollibee, their chicken is JUICY.
