1) What is your season outlook, and what are your plans in the offseason?
Pig: Try and win. I think we have a pretty good squad especially with Don Reid coming back. Didn't have a great last sim but I think we have enough pieces to put LJ at the SF position where he should be able to dominate and I am hedging on that. Next year will try to be the same. Should have some big expiring's to work with to get better pieces even with how strapped we will be against the cap. I should probably try and rebuild but I just like going to the playoffs too much.
Nanz: Compete. We are trying to find the right lineup / DC because I think we have enough to make some big time noise. We are beating the elite teams but also losing a lot. Having MAR is a big upgrade from last year which is good. Kobe is Elite and Manu went up under the hood and is putting up big time numbers. Webber is also a huge big for us and Baker is a great fit with his recent +3 TC. Overall I like our squad we just need more talent to add in the offseason.
beastly: Well, I wasn't sure of what I would be doing on the offseason, I was trying to trade Toni Kukoc, or even fielding offers of superstar for Kevin Garnett, but both fell through. Got Divac for cap space, and got Mutombo for a first and 2 prospects so I guess im tryna win we've been playing .500 ball though. Maybe I'll tank in 2003. Well how to fit in role players to the team after the 4 players next offseason. I think we could make some noise with a move or two.
2) How is the trade market? Who should be moved? What teams are treadmilling?
Pig: Odd. I rarely get any offers these days for anyone. Haven't seen one Kenny Anderson offer. Only received one legitimate offer for LJ. I was trying to dump 5 picks last season for someone serviceable and received no bite on that. I maybe need to be more proactive because there are a couple trades out there that I saw that I could of been willing to provide more value.
I'd like to see Kerry Kittles moved for a haul. Pistons have some solid pieces it probably makes sense to move.
As far as treadmilling, Svedda pretty much has more or less the same core from the creation draft and I haven't seen him too active in big trades thus far. He's probably running into the same issue I have been having where no one values any of our own picks. Walker is really good, but how do you get talent to build around him?
Nanz: Nobody. Trade Market is awful to be honest and its impossible to trade unless one team blatantly wins the deal
beastly: Used to be Shaq, but he got Eddie Jones. Teams probably selling more than buying with the 2003 Draft Coming, some will be buyers by default since some guys can be have for cheap. Play probably, Przybilla is nice though and Kittles is young enough that they can tank a few more season before his prime.
3) Who is going to win it all this year? Any Dark horses?
Pig: Denver looks really solid. I thought Hornets would be a lot better but they are slipping. New Kings look dangerous and definitley have the goods to get better if they decided to upgrade from Hedo and really go for it. Dark horse for me would be the Lakers I think.
Nanz: Lakers are the darkhorse and also the team winning it all. We have what it takes! Lets get it!
beastly: Bucks if they could trade Posey but Rousan would rather TROLL and post how he offered more to guys when they're traded instead of just offering before a deal was made. I think my team could be in the mix with a move or two, maybe I'll reopen Garnett talks MAYBE.
4) What team is close, and what big move would you suggest them make to get them over the hump?
Pig: Sacramento dealing Hedo for someone who is an upgrade would get them over the hump for sure. Some type of Francis/Artest/Dampier deal might do it for Mike if he wants to hedge that Clyde will retire next season. Not sure what the deals would be.
Nanz: I see a lot of teams in the hunt but there aren’t enough small deals for the good teams to get better. All these blow out trades like Ray or Eddie put a lot more teams in the mix for sure.
beastly: Like I said I like my chances with the 4 guys. Maybe trade Divac for a guard or Garnett for a kings ransom, but Garnett is my favorite player of all time as a Celtics fan from Manila so probably not, Divac or Mutombo for a guard is probably more likely.
5) Who will be the first teams CY'd here.
Pig: I think it's too early to tell but Lumley needs to reorganize his approach on how to build teams as it isn't sustainable in the long term.
Nanz: Not sure where the CY starts but I guess I’ll go with the Jazz and/or Hornets? Jazz don’t have their pick and are 13-27? LOL yeah that’s rough. Last couple of seasons they haven’t won 42 so they would already be going into CY. Hornets because of historical performance.
beastly: Looking like Lumley with no picks and all old players, could be the 5x Champ Break but he's a playoff team right now so he have a few more seasons. At the end of the day its a text based sim from 2001 so I dont need to spew negativity.
6) What players have the most value in the league? Top 5?
Pig: I haven't looked at all the +15's throughout the league so this might be misconstrued.
1. Kobe
2. Shaq
3. Duncan
4. Kerry Kittles
5. Jason Kidd?
Nanz: Kobe for sure. Tim Duncan. JKidd nasty too. Love Grant Hill and LJ. Ray Allen nasty too
beastly: Kobe, Duncan, Garnett, Shaq, Kidd is how I would rank them. But I have a different taste than most of the league, but in terms of my team building those are the 5. I kinda like AI too and Grant Hill but he kinda old.
7) Lot of flak in the Kings-Thunder Trade, break it down?
Pig: If a GM is trying to make his situation better but ultimately makes a bad trade it is one thing. However, in this situation we have a fairly inactive GM trade away arguably a top 5 SG without putting a block up. It just shows negligence to a certain degree.
Break has been around too long for this to be excusable. We might need to go back to explanations in the trade thread as a means of processing trades.
Nanz: Not sure whats there to break down lol 2 picks for a stud is absurd. Break hasn’t even been active and doing this deal makes zero sense.
beastly: Like I said Break is a 5 x CY Champ so it wasn't surprising per se, but still annoying how you could get a fringe superstar on his prime. Maybe its time to bring LB to the league to unleash chaos. But its kinda nice that he was almost replaced then come back to deal Eddie Jones for two shitty firsts.
8) Upcoming draft, who is the top 5?
Pig: Arenas, Parker, Chandler, Wallace, Gasol in no specific order. Richardson, Johnson and Jefferson could be interchangeable in there as well.
Nanz: Havent looked since I don’t have a pick. I’ll go with Pau/Chandler – Agent 0 – Gerald Wallane- ZBO
beastly: Arenas, Gasol, Chandler, Parker, Wallace maybe, these are my ranking on its face, but probably be different if I ever re rank them with more thinking. No mention of Gasol stocks though yet so that's subject to change
9) Tell me something wild!
Pig: If two identical sets of twins marry another set of identical twins and both couples have children the offspring of the two couples would technically be siblings rather than cousins.
Nanz: Ummmm in my last 4 rounds of golf my lowest score was I think an 82 and my highest I think was like 106? That’s PRETTY WILD IMO!
beastly: I'm a boring guy from a third world country, So none.
Pig: Try and win. I think we have a pretty good squad especially with Don Reid coming back.
