1. Hey everybody! How is everybody's hump day goin?
Nanz: pretty good! Just living and loving to the best of my abilities. Busy at work but we’re all doing the best we can in this economy…
DBW: It's going solid, thanks. I'm not drowning in work for once so this is the perfect opportunity to answer some questions and make Gilbert good.
nybombers3: Fine. Wednesdays are my chill day work-wise. Teach ELA, math and have the rest of the day to do whatever. Can't complain really.
2. Lets dive right into it, the biggest topic of discussion in the league has been draft class ratings. How do you feel the draft classes have been? Does Spencer need to readjust his philosophy or is he creating these draft classes the way it should be?
Nanz: haven’t really been following to be honest but its so early.. lets give the big dog some time. Ratings don’t look great and Manu is a good example, but he’s also doing 26 a game with 2 steals and dominating soooo. Lets give it time and after all, we all wanted a new league to get rid of inflation so lets just give it time.
DBW: I don't like the ratings, I think they are too low and it seems to me like potentials are being lowered too but we can't know that for sure. I think the draftees would be looking sorry as hell if not for the +15 potential. This is a result of the whining about ratings in the last league though, so we'll just have to deal with it. Hopefully it will be fine once the creation guys are outta here.
nybombers3: It's tough. I don't mind the grades overall but it's tough to see them compared to the old dudes who still have potential and already have higher grades they don't look good and won't end up hitting the same.
3. With that being said, what players do you think should've made better? Give me two draftees that have been busts or underperformed where they should be.
Nanz: ummm man this is tough…. I guess Manu should be A- A- A C+ since he is an all time goat…TMAC bounced back from where everyone thought would be a bust… Brand also looks good now. I mean I don’t know doesn’t seem too crazy to me?
DBW: Vince Carter being garbage is tragic. Jamison should be a star scorer/rebs SF. Maybe he got it in him but so far he's been disappointing. Why is Bibby ass? He was a premier PG in the league for a long time. Then there's a bunch of solid, long time role playing guys that look like they'll be out of the league soon.
nybombers3: Bibby and VC have to be the most obvious ones I think. I wish Brad would've been better but I did eventually give up on him. Still, you would think he'd be solid at least.
4. Lets switch topics a bit, how is your team doing compared to your expectations thus far this season?
Nanz: we had a good season last year and was expecting us to keep that going. I think its pretty much on par with what I was expecting and hoping to get better. I really wanted to see Manu explode to that next tier but Minor is pretty awesome….
DBW: I'm not happy with the year. I was annoyed with my trade talks that were stalling and I posted the Ratliff and LJ deals without locking the other 2 deals up. Usually I wouldn't make a mistake like that. It's better to just punt the season and try again later. Now I'm wasting a LJ year instead of rebuilding a 3rd year. Hopefully I can just be mediocre this year and go for it next year.
nybombers3: After this sim we're atop the divison. I don't suspect that will stay but Im glad to see it. I wanted to make the playoffs and eventuate things in the offseason for next year. So far so good.
5. Any big plans coming for your respective teams in the near future?
Nanz: Wellllllllllll we just got D-Fish which I think is a big upgrade for us at the point. Having someone who can defend and board over MAR is pretty huge. MAR is soooo good tho and I’ll miss him but DFish I think is a big get for us.
DBW: Hopefully get deals done for the players I want.
nybombers3: Might be tanking for Melo. Fuck Bron. We'll see though. Might be too boring to tank again.
6. Its a little past the half way mark, who do you think are the favorites from each conference now? Why?
Nanz: gotta go lakeshow baby! We got some solid Bigs good guard play and the GOAT Kobe. I like our chances again this year no doubt. IN the East, I guess you gotta go Hornets who have been great so far.
DBW: I like the Hornets for the East and Kings in the West. Both teams are the most complete top to bottom. I think I'd give the edge to the Kings just because of Shaq.
nybombers3: I guess Hornets and Lakers. The Kings in the West can challenge for sure. In the East, I don't see why the Bucks can't come out again. For now though, I'll go with Hornets/Lakers
7. We are 5 seasons in now, what has surprised you about the league? It could range from ratings to who has which GM has won a championship or a player has busted or boomed more than you thought would.
Nanz:I guess im more surprised that someone like Skillz isn’t back and it took the lasagna man this long to get back on the boards. My good pal Habes going back to back and cementing his legacy was pretty awesome tho.
DBW: I can't think of anything in particular. Now that the novelty has worn off, the league feels exactly the same as the last one. GMs post the same, draft the same, trade the same. My interest is in the drafts at the moment. There are players I've already forgotten about from those years, so it's cool to see the names.
nybombers3: I guess the ratings for sure have been a shocked, especially considering where we just came from. Like, C- A- B B+ D+ C was a solid starter. Last BBS, he would've retired from no use. Still really getting used to it.
8. This isnt a question just say something nice to Spencer.
Nanz: we love and cherish you… lets get a beer soon.
DBW: I appreciate and respect his dedication to running this league despite how busy he is. He's the best commissioner in FBB league history.
nybombers3: Top tier BBS commish. Top 3 and not 2 or 3.
9. Ok, some real life questions, the NBA is coming down to the last month or so, does any team stand out to you as clear cut favorites and if so who is it? If not, what are the teams that wouldnt surprise you if they won it all this year?
Nanz: I guess the Celtics have been dominant so you gotta go with them which sucks cause they are the worst. I still think Nuggets are the team to beat but watch out for the lakeshow! You never know baby! Also would like to see the Bucks make a run.
DBW: Denver is the favorite, Celtics are a close second but Denver is the team that can just turn it on and crush you when they want. Very reminiscent of the Duncan Spurs in my opinion.
nybombers3: Knicks wassup. Fuck everyone else.
10. Last one, has your NFL team done anything that excites you in the first few days of Free Agency?
Nanz: Rams didn’t do anything LOL sooooo yeah but its been wild so far. Allthese running backs moving around is insane. Prettyfun.
DBW: Don't know shit about NFL but I know the Patriots got Mac Jones the hell outta there.
nybombers3: I believe the Cowboys signed a punter. Game changing move IMO.
