1. Yao was the obvious top pick in the draft. How did the rest of the lotto hold up in your opinion?
jahallstar - It went pretty chalk. I think sampson went early. Gooden i wasn't a fan of either. Top 3 picks were pretty much idiot proof.
chipper - 1. I think it went as expected. After Yao it was such a steep drop off in talent. Amare and Prince were the obvious next two best players, and then a total crapshoot. So of course I ended up with Pick 4. I like Butler a lot- but obviously would have preferred one of those other 3.
2. Who was your favorite non lotto pick?
jahallstar - John salmons and reggie evans. After the lotto this draft had like 15 guys who graded very similarly though.
chipper - 2. Right outside the lotto- I actually really like Salmons. With camps, he could be an all-around good player.
3. 76ers won the title. How shocking was that to you?
jahallstar - That was very shocking. They had a solid team though. A great backcourt can carry you.
chipper - 3. It was pretty shocking! But clearly McDyess was the problem. Getting rid of him really unlocked a lot of options for them. Was still a shock even after considering that.
4. Speaking of the 76ers, in the East, do they repeat a finals trip? If not then who?
jahallstar -I don't think they get there. They are one of the teams that can though. I think the heat have a lot of potential. The magic and hornets can make a run too.
chipper - 4. I don't think they repeat because of all the changes they've made. Bucks are good. The Heat look like they'll have a pretty good team. Celtics have talent. I really like the Knicks as well. I'm definitely forgetting some teams.
5. The 76ers beat the Nuggets in the finals. With the Nuggets rebuilding apparently, who makes it out of the West?
jahallstar - The Rockets or lakers? Some very good starting 5's. Throw the kings in there too. To be honest some really bad benches though. Injuries could be huge!
chipper - 5. I like Phoenix's team. I could see them making a run. Maybe the Lakers and Kobe finally put it all together.
6. AI played like a beast at SF. What made him so successful and can it be replicated?
jahallstar - I was a little tuned out for the playoffs. I'm assuming they ran fast outside and he was to quick for other sfs. It can be replicated, however it can also be exploited!
chipper - 6. I mean, he's just good at EVERYTHING. Having that PG/SG build at SF and making it work is crazy. Especially being 6'0. I can't remember seeing anything like it so no- I don't think it can be replicated.
7. Who are the winners and losers of the offseason?
jahallstar -Winners Heat. Why go any further than this. Cavs got yao so throw them in there.
Losers blazers and celtics. Losing al and shard was brutal for those franchises
chipper - 7. Anyone that's tanked hard enough to put themselves in position for a top 3 pick this season is a winner. Everyone else is a loser.
8. Plenty of tanking currently but what's a team that should've tanked?
jahallstar - Ehh the suns. They have their pick and frank williams is their best bench player? It is time!
chipper - 8. I probably should have tanked harder than I did, so now I'm going to be stuck in purgatory- too good to really tank it this season and be in a position to land one of the big 3, and not good enough for a playoff spot.
9. OKC was the team that suffered off the back of the now infamous Dyess deal. What should be their next step?
jahallstar -Dyess is solid if used correctly. He next move was to trade for bradley though. I kinda had inside info on this
chipper - 9. Try to get anything they can out of McDyess. He's clearly a net negative to that team and it's been a total disaster.
10. Summer is coming. Where do you want to go this summer?
jahallstar - Would like to get to maine. Probably hitting up the black hills and mt rushmore too. I'm sure other random college towns as my step daughter is going into her senior year in hs. Hit up depaul , marquette, purdue, miami ohio and xavier last week. St pattys is chicago was pretty lit.
chipper - 10. I'm actually going on the first cruise of my life with my family! We're going to the Bahamas for a few days. Before that- getting to take my son to Walt Disney World for the first time will be fun.
