1. Toronto Raptors - Chris Paul PG 6'0'' 175 20 B- B- B+ B- C A
The prize of this draft is Chris Paul. After him, this draft can really go in any direction. Paul looks like the next elite PG. Raps would be lucky to go from Duncan to CP3.
2. Milwaukee Bucks - Andrew Bogut C 7'0'' 260 21 B- D+ C+ B+ C+ A
Feel like there’s 3-4 guys that can go 2. I went with the safe pick in Bogut. Bogut probably caps out at a double double big with 2-3 stocks. Solid. Not elite. Is he worth the 2nd pick? Guess it’ll depend on who is picking and what they are looking for. We did see early lotto picks like Tyson and Pryz turn out to be solid, but probably not worth top picks when it’s all said and done.
3. Charlotte Hornets - Deron Williams PG 6'3'' 200 21 C+ B- B C C- A
This is where we really need notes. Rating wise, I really like Deron. Granger is nice too but I’m loaded on the wings. Could really go Deron, Granger or Bynum here and be ok.
4. Utah Jazz - Danny Granger SF 6'9'' 222 22 B B C B C+ B
Granger has a nice base. He should be a high volume scoring G/F, but will he have potential to hit that next level? Not sure. Regardless, the scoring and rebounding is pretty nice.
5. Washington Wizards - Andrew Bynum C 7'0'' 285 18 C+ D+ D+ C+ C+ A
Would it shock me to see Bynum be the best player in this draft? No. He’s 18 with a decent base for a big. We’ve seen several players at 18 have huge improvements, most notably Sofo and Al Harrington. Wherever he goes, I would camp him asap. Boards, blocks and whatever else looks weak based on notes - handles, jump shot or inside.
6. Philadelphia 76ers - Marvin Williams SF 6'8'' 237 19 B- C+ C- B C A
Philly is probably better off dealing this pick unless they jump. Marvin looks interesting, but I don’t recall him being good in many leagues. Maybe this one will be different !
7. Washington Wizards from OKC - Monta Ellis SG 6'3'' 185 20 B C C+ C C A
Ah, a former Warrior! But man does he look flawed. C outside and C defense is a tough look. He’ll need to have high potential to be anything decent. As you can see, I have an early drop off after the 5th pick. Big time.
8. Portland Blazers - Ersan Ilyasova SF 6'9'' 235 19 C+ B- C- B+ C+ B
Ersan is so interesting to me. Good defender, rebounder for a wing. Scoring shouldn’t be a problem either. He could very well go 6th overall and I wouldn’t hate it. Camp that scoring and hope he’s got a little juice in the tank to improve.
9. Indiana Pacers from Hou - David Lee PF 6'9'' 245 22 B C C C B B
Always love Lee but he’s usually mid in sims because of his lack of stocks. If he could play SF, he’d be much higher on this list. Who knows! Maybe he’ll get solid stocks! We know he’ll have a solid to good jump shot and boards.
10. Chicago Bulls - Marcin Gortat C 6'11'' 240 21 C+ C- D+ B- C+ B
Play picking in the bottom of the lotto again. Gortat could be a solid big. IIRC, he was nice in the last BBS. Again, it’ll all come down to the dreaded notes.
11. Atlanta Hawks - Gerald Green SG 6'6'' 205 20 B- B- C C C A
Chipper probably deals this pick as I think he’s entering his CY. Green is likely a high jumping guard. Looks similar to JR Smith. Decent spot for him to come off the board.
12. Toronto Raptors from DAL - Amir Johnson PF 6'9'' 240 18 C+ C- D+ B- B- B
Always like Amir in leagues. At worst, he’s usually a solid third big man. Should be a solid blocker. Raps get another piece toward their rebuild post Duncan.
13. Minnesota Timberwolves - Chuck Hayes C 6'6'' 240 22 C- C- C- B B- B
Chuck! Will he have stocks? Wasn’t he good last BBS? Ratings look nice. A big who won’t shoot and can block and board is valuable.
