1) What do you think of the Heat/hornets debacle of a trade?
Both Teams Played Hard: Eh. Not sure I fully get what happened there. HF was supposed to cut a player and decided to back out because of it? Backing out like that sucks, especially if you offered the deal to begin with and aren't around like that. I'm sure there's something else that we're missing.
Chipper: Really really shitty of Eddy to scram like that. And I like Eddy a lot. But not cutting a guy after you got raked over the coals to get the deal voided was pretty terrible.
DB - Sad stuff! Not sure what happened. Thought the trade was going through then Eddie scrammed on it and now it's fallen apart. Sucks for the Hornets. It was a really good deal for them. It wasn't that bad for the heat but i felt like he could get more for dirk...youth wise. That's why I didn't take the hornets offer first. I didn't like it that much.
jr - I have seen this before. I don’t think Eddy should’ve done that, but he does have the right to. I’m friends with both guys so I’m not picking a side. That’s between them and I am sure they will figure something out.
2) What is the value of players like dirk, nash, shaq.
Both Teams Played Hard: Dirk is good. Top tier 6th man for sure. Good/great starter. No idea what hes doing in the DC because there's no DC up but I assume he's starting at PF currently. He should carry pretty good value overall, especially if a team has the pieces around him to mask the lack of blocks or D overall.
Nash is good but the lack of rebounding hurts and there are guys that do a better Nash impersonation. Thinking about PG's he's behind dues like BD, Francis, Kidd, Brandon, Gil, Fisher, JC. Might be forgetting other dudes as well. Being 31 and expiring doesn't help. He'd be a good pick up but can't see him netting massive value.
Shaq is Shaq. He's by far a top rebounder. Great shot blocker. On the offensive end He's fallen off some and that would hurt his value. He's also 33 and expiring. He's a HOF for sure. Value wise, he should still carry good value as he's an instant direction changer.
Chipper: clearly not as high as we thought- Dirk’s been going for less than expected (I guess because of his stocks), Nash is a good PG but is still on the Kings, and Shaq went for a lot less than people expected.
DB - Dirk has tons of value and respectively should receive it. He should get offered a high lotto and few pieces of youth and picks. Just depends on the youth and picks being offered. Nash has value for sure but is 31 and expiring. What kind of contract will he get? Who wants to overpay for someone who will be 32. It's hard to say. Shaq has value as well but again expensive and old.
jr - They still hold value, but Shaq and Nash being older it kinda of hurts them even if they are very good players. Dirk is a great scorer and if he could play SF he’d be one of the most valuable players, but he can’t so he’s a liability at PF or C because of the low blocks.
3) What should the kings do?
Both Teams Played Hard: Pray. I think it really depends on the plan. Have fun? stay the course. They may even be able to reset as is but I feel like holding onto Diaw is ultimately going to be a regret for them. I think Diaw is a unique player for sure but is he good and worthy of high value? Currently, don't see it. He's fun but I wouldn't be shocked if they turned down some obvious trades for him. I wouldn't rush to move more picks as is.
Chipper: just keep going the way they’re going. Make Break regret holding onto the pick in the manner he did.
DB - You're doing it baby! Keep winning and get 42 then go full out blitz and tank when you have your picks again? Next year? I'd sign nash to maybe 1-2 year deal and move his ass for assets when you can. Maybe at the deadline if you think you got it locked up.
jr - Kings should try and win, then rebuild next season. I wouldn’t trade much unless you could get elite value for their guys.
4) Who is winning it all and why?
Both Teams Played Hard: Celtics. They were pretty much-running things until the injuries. The 76ers and Wizards are going to be good competition for them though. Warriors getting Hill for free was a nice get as well.
Chipper: I think once the Celtics get healthy, it’s them. They certainly started off incredibly. I think they’re the team to beat.
DB - Sixers and Warriors look good but it's wide open. Anyone's guess. Gotta get hot!
jr - Celtics will win it all. They got some really good players on discount, but what can ya do?
5) Will hawks make cy?
Both Teams Played Hard: Guess so. Penny has played well for them. That's been a big one for them. I don't love their roster but they are making it work.
Chipper: well I certainly hope so! It’s been pretty good so far.
DB - Yes, I think so. Solid squad, very good shot. As long as they stay healthy.
jr - Hawks look to be in great shape. Hopefully no injuries happen or Brian will have to be gmong the Atlanta Shithawks next season.
6) Who is getting cyd
Both Teams Played Hard: Eventually? Not sure who's even close right now tbh. I don't think anyone has really fucked up their team so badly that they are going to miss out.
Chipper: not sure anyone’s getting CY’d at the moment but I need to look at who is coming up when I do my updates.
DB - No idea. No idea who is close. Give us some people! wtf!
jr - Probably me. Took a bust from Mike, drafted shitty JR Smith. Biedrins is poo. Building around Eddy Curry.
7) Plans with your team?
Both Teams Played Hard: Who knows. Legit don't have a real plan but have my picks so I'll just go from there. Picked up Charlie V yesterday so we'll see how he does next year.
Chipper: win this year and next year and then I have all my picks again- so hopefully that holds up.
DB - Keep competing or trying to compete without my pick and get 42 plus wins. Then go from there. Probably in a couple years go full out tank. But we will cross that bridge when we get there lol.
jr - I plan to try and build through the draft. I have 8 draft picks in 3 seasons so I am hoping to get lucky since all the guys i have drafted suck.
8) Top 5 gms this league
Both Teams Played Hard: DBW, kobe, Steve, Habes, Sargo. Also was thinking jr and braz but eh. Top 5 always difficult to do. Mouse also deserves props for turning his teams around pretty quickly.
Chipper: DBW, Kobe, Habes, and there’s a number of others. JR, Nanz, Sargo, and I’m sure I’m forgetting people.
DB - Kobe, Harold, DBW, CC, Svedda in no particular order in this version.
jr - ehhh IDK. I mean Boston has won a few, Kobe has won 2. Mavericks won one. Mouse got one as well. Weird to say this but royal has done well here as well.
9) Bottom 5 gms this league
Both Teams Played Hard: chipper, game, break, matt, myself.
Chipper: Me, and I’m not going to lump anyone else in there because I’m the only one to get into a CY so far.
DB: Eh, I don't have a bottom 5. Can't say I would pick anyone. No one has been CY'd yet so who the fucks knows. I will leave it at that!
jr - well i guess this is easier to do. Chipper, break, lumley, Matt (only for not winning with Tim Duncan) and Charles. Sorry Charles.
10) Summer plans ?
Both Teams Played Hard: All I want to do is sleep tbh. So tired. Wife wants to travel though. Haven't set anything up yet officially.
Chipper: going on my first ever cruise next month! And we’re going to Walt Disney World for a few days beforehand. Looking forward to it!
DB: Going to Europe with my buddies. Can't wait!!
jr - well it’s my first summer as a father so I will be spending time with my daughter. Think we will go to the zoo, aquarium for sure. I have basketball as well we are in 2 different summer leagues so at night I’ll be doing that. Good thing is I don’t work starting June 6th. I will probably be going to Vegas for the Team USA game+ maybe 1 Summer league game. Should be a great summer!
Both Teams Played Hard: Eh. Not sure I fully get what happened there. HF was supposed to cut a player and decided to back out because of it? Backing out like that sucks, especially if you offered the deal to begin with and aren't around like that. I'm sure there's something else that we're missing.
