1. Looking back at the creation draft…do you have any regrets? Would you have done anything differently?
Kobe - Maybe would've been a little more patient about trading up. Definitely would have drafted McInnis and Minor earlier so their contracts would be longer. Thought offense was gonna be an issue but we seem to be alright.
Braz- I actually think I would’ve done a lot differently. My draft pretty much had the worst possible outcome. I traded down a couple spots to get Mark Camby who has been getting better, but now it’s almost fully camped out. I traded away my second for pics that I thought would be better than they were. But at least I’m looking okay for a top 5 pick. I love tanking for these next two draft classes but I think if I could do it over again, I would’ve preferred to build a decent team maybe something like cc,hopefully a little better.
JR - Nah no regrets from the draft. The only one is taking Horry in the 3rd. He looks like a solid player but needs camps. I think I shouldve went with a traditional big instead of a tweener like Horry.
2. Excluding first round creation picks (and McGinnis), which player would you choose to build your team around and why?
Kobe - Hmm probably Kevin Johnson without doing too much research.
Braz- Shawn Bradley blocks like a mf, Greems pg duo is nice and a young peja was on the radar for me at 21.
JR - Allan Houston. I got lucky and got my favorite player in the second round. He is almost the perfect SG. If he can develop some steals and a little more boards he will not only be because he is my favorite player during this era.
3. We know who is in the 97 draft. Do we think Spence should hold off on announcing or mix up the classes to prevent the same issues we had in prior BBS, where teams (like myself) would preemptively decide they are tanking for certain classes?
Kobe - I like keeping them the same as real life but I don't mind if he switches them up since we'll get there eventually anyway.
Braz- I think that could be a cool idea but certainly after next season, I want to get Tim Duncan and Vince, Carter. We need it to ever compete after coming out of the draft with nothing to show.
JR - I like a little randomness just so not every team is tanking in certain years. I think for spencer it is easier to have draft classes premade so Its not a huge deal. I think the league will stay more competitive if he made players declare earlier or later. I know its very time consuming simming so adding that might be too much.
4. We still have some inactive GMs. I Know LB is annoying, but he’s very active. Would you be ok with brining him in as a Gm?
Kobe - There are a lot of annoying ppl here so I don't see the problem with bringing him in if he's active and trades.
Braz- yeah would be a great add if he was normal about it. He’s active and knows the game
JR - I dont care if LB GMs or not. He is annoying when it comes to trades because he will text me a lot. He is very active and would get more trades happening thats for sure. I have no problem with him. Im for it if others are.
5. What are your thoughts on adding a mentor camp, where teams with veteran all stars (say over 30) to mentor and give the ability to camp rookie contracts? This could increase value of aging vets.
Kobe - I wouldn't mind a different camping system just to freshen things up but doesn't seem like spence is gonna change anything and I'm fine with the current camping system. It's simple.
Braz- I like it but in the past confusing, who is worthwhile as a mentor. And they got passed around like crazy.
JR - Depending on how they gain the ability to being a mentor I could see this as a great addition. I think the camping system is plenty of points so maybe take one camp off if we were going to add this feature.
6. All things equal, which position do you think is the most important in FBB?
Kobe - I usually build my teams inside out so I prefer stud bigs. Especially in this league where blocks and rebounds are at a premium right now. Having an elite player at any position gives you a big advantage though, as long as you have 1 or 2 it doesn't really matter what position they are.
Braz- I think in a deflated league a good point guard carry you far. Where we ended up in BBS last time, it really felt like you needed a stud three you can get 30 points 10 rebounds and some stocks.
JR - Personally I think wings are the most important. PG you can plug in play and bigs just have to be able to rebound and block shots. I won a ship with Frank Ntilikina in the last version as my PG so that tells it all. Wings win championships IMO.
7. S1 is always slow after a creation draft. Are you for just simming through it the next day or two? Would you be willing to Venmo Spencer to do so?
Kobe - Yea definitely after trade deadline we should get through playoffs as fast as possible.
Braz- I think got into the playoffs in season one would be incredible and I would be willing to Venmo Spencer for sure. I would love to fundraiser for him and then maybe give him a day off for the draft.
JR - Yeah I am up for it problem is the way my bank is set up... Nah I am broke because of Christmas and starting a new job where I didnt get paid for the first 5 weeks put me in a bind and I am still recovering so sorry I can not pay the simmer. You add a 4 month old and I am now a broke dad.
