76ers Trade: Dee Brown Hornets 1998 1st Hornets 1999 1st Rockets 1999 1st 76ers 2000 1st
Hornets Trade: Antonio McDyess
Sixers accept. Like the idea of pairing Dyess with McGrady to give us a young duo for the future, with the ability to still take things slow and add some more lottery talent in 98 and 99 if we tank.

Love dress but couldn’t add talent this offseason to compete. This next draft is juicy

Sixers were in such a good position if they just sat pat and tanked again. I don't understand these moves.

Like this alot for the sixers I don't. He's trying to build a team too quickly and should of sat for another year. He's not dead in the water but these deals unnecessarily inhibit his future flexibility.

I don’t love the FA deals but adding a proven young guy like dice over picks is solid Adding Dyess (who is solid) immediately makes your team better. In the process of the acquisition, you have given up a pick to a team who had 25 wins the previous year as well as making your own pick a lot worse in the process. It doesn't help that McDyess is expiring after the end of next season. Compounded with those signings, you have really inhibited your flexibility financially in FA next season to build off a better FA class. Same with the following year with McDyess expiring. If I am the Sixers and I know I can't compete next year, a bad team with McGrady, CHA pick and my own pick which I will more likely be able to acquire a stud with more value >>>> McDyess.

I understand giving his picks back but yeah I agree with PIGGY that mouse ruined his tanking chances for lets say Dirk, VC or Pierce

Certainly good analysis. I wasn’t really thinking how valuable the hornets picks were coming off 20 wins and assumed the mouse wanted to have cheese in hand here. Maybe he shoulda played harder and kept the last two picks. I still think the sixers can out tank most. Including the Ricky Davis/ JO led hornets

Maybe he shoulda played harder and kept the last two picks. I still think the sixers can out tank most. Including the Ricky Davis/ JO led hornets I understand the analysis and of course I took all of that into consideration but I didn't wanna go into a potential CY situation with a 20 year old TMac, whoever I was to get in 98 and then whoever I was to get in 99 and have 3 guys who weren't ready to be significant contributors putting me in desperation mode year 4. Hornets had 25 wins with Dyess, whos to say I can't have that same number or lower with him this year? If he adds 10 wins to my team in comparison to last year we are still gonna be a top 5 draft pick caliber team. I know Sargo. He would of probably tried his hardest to make sure I didn't get a lotto, and with his original offer including my 99 I felt more comfortable dealing the other 2 picks to allow myself 2 years of added lottery talent. Yall over analyzing the free agents. They'll most likely all get dealt for best deal available or be used as fillers down the line with picks. None of these guys are moving the needle. After doing nothing all season boredom kicked in and I just wanted to ensure I got above minimum cap and possibly added some guys other teams might have interest in at some point.

Don't hate the move. Sixers can still tank and grab a top player.
