1. Great first season imo. How did you feel about your team's performance and what would you have done differently throughout the season?
zinger - Probably would have dealt my 3rd for futures. Dejan needs a good TC. Aside from that, happy to have landed Ricky Davis to pair with Dyess and JO.
habes - Nothing to change in-season, but there are a few picks I’d like back. I think I cared a bit too much about getting guys under 30. I wasn’t at my computer for most of the draft so there are a bunch of guys I never even noticed who I probably would’ve taken.
chipper - Couple more wins and I reset. That's going to cost me. Injuries in key games we shouldn't have lost to tankers definitely hurt. Should have spammed and gotten heals but whatever.
2. What are your plans for FA and the upcoming season? Looking to win or tank? Who/what's on the chopping block?
zinger - Looking to get a depth piece or two in FA. I’ll also shop my 2000 for a win now piece, preferably a wing or backup big.
habes - I’m hoping to break the seal and start trading. I like my guys and want to win, but it’s time to hit the open market and get the deals flowing. Call me.
chipper -Not going to overpay anybody, for FA. I think I may try to win again because there's still a bunch of tankers and I have decent players that could help with that. But I also could trade some of my guys and get some nice rebuilding pieces. So I'm in that wishy-washy area that no one should be in.
3. The 1997 draft looks fun. Who do you think will end up being the 3rd best player from the draft(behind Duncan and TMac) and who do you think was the best player outside of the obvious top 6?
zinger -Im hoping it’s Ricky Davis. Outside of the top 6? Foyle. Camp those rebounds and you got yourself a good fbb big.
habes - Third best is going to be Chauncey. He’ll be the best PG pretty soon. I’m not sure who went top six but scanning the notes quickly, I like Croshere if he can move to SF, Bobby Jax a lot, and Foyle a lot.
chipper - Chauncey is going to be great. His skillset at PG is just going to work really well in this version of the league. Foyle for outside the top 6. Was hoping he'd fall to my pick but I knew he wouldn't. Brevin Knight also looks really good and I'm pissed Play sniped him right from under me.
4. What are your thoughts on the guys added to FA? Do you think Spence should add some better players for next FA to get more interest from the tanking teams or just make everyone wait for a real FA in year 3?
zinger -They all look meh. 17 year old is interesting but I could see him getting paid and just sucking. Hope he adds a few minor guys next year but nothing crazy.
habes - Yeah, these guys weren’t all that exciting. I remember Dejan Bodiroga coming in and lighting it up last version. Drop that MF. He’s actually on the Hornets though now so someone like him…
chipper - Drazen's one of my all-time favorites, and Birdman gave us the hilarious Dunk Contest fails. I think we should all wait for next FA- but here's a radical idea- add the actual GMs to the FA pool. Tell Spence how "good" you actually are had you pursued basketball, and then see how much people will pay for you. I think it'd be a funny addition to the league.
5. There hasn't been much trading so it seems like the league landscape will pretty much stay the same for next season but TC could change that fast. What players/teams do you think could have a good TC or bad TC? You can mention your own.
zinger - This Tc will decide what we do going forward. A good Tc and I’ll likely add pieces. If not, we will have to figure something out. Might deal Dyess.
habes - Nuggets have nice youth. I like them to have a nice TC. I’m hoping for a big one from Grant Hill but otherwise not expecting a ton. I don’t think we’ll see bad TCs from the vet teams since most these guys aren’t 36 and up and ratings declines around 32-34 don’t tend matter that much. I guess it’ll be someone disappointed in their youth’s development. I’ll guess the Clips.
chipper - I am PRAYING for a good TC for Kemp and Vlade, etc. I mean, I always do. I just don't want anyone to die. The Nuggets with a good TC would be bad news for the league with the young pieces they have.
6. Who do you think gets CY'd first this version of BBS and why?
zinger - Are we even having a Cy? Tough to tell. The garbage teams ended up w Duncan and TMac, so both should be fine.
habes - Chipper. He had a bad draft and is talking about his guys being unavailable. I just don’t see a path unless he hits on draft picks or sneaks in a reset before the tankers are ready to compete.
chipper - It's probably me- because I can't decide which way to go and when people start winning, I'm not going to be good enough to compete.
7. What are you doing for Christmas this year? Any nice plans or gifts?
zinger - Heading to my parents. Looking forward to it. My daughter gets to play with all 4 of her cousins around her age (two more coming in May). It’ll be her second Christmas and she’ll actually be able to open gifts this year (or play with the wrapping paper)
habes - I’m Jewish.
chipper - I'm Jewish- but my wife celebrates Christmas so we'll go visit her family in Chattanooga.
8. Bama vs Michigan and Texas vs Washington. Give me predictions on these games and who wins the natty.
zinger - Bama wins. Texas wins. Bama again. They are inevitable.
habes - I don’t care! I went to Texas but don’t really like Sark or the program. Anyone but Bama I guess.
chipper - Bama is going to win it all because they beat the best team in that team's worst game of the season. Don't give Saban too much time to gameplan for your team because you WILL end up getting destroyed. It's just a proven fact. Texas will win the other game, and then Bama gets revenge on Texas.
