Hello folks, first of all Happy Labor Day, I'm proud of yall, I'd like to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers(all of you) to the development and achievements in the United States. With that said any Labor Day plans?
Mike: We went to my parents for the day. The kids went swimming, we had lunch. Came home, daughter took a 3 hour nap. We went for a nice walk with the dog and watched one of the minion movies. Good day.
braz: I flew back from a wedding in Portland. Newark lost signal and all flights got diverted. In an Uber from jfk without my wife’s bag. Help
mouse: Nothing crazy. Worked both jobs over the 3 day weekend, played some basketball yesterday, and ran some pickleball Saturday. Hit the gym and playing basketball tonight. Usual routine. Girls in Guatemala for the week.
I'm assuming wheeling and dealing is part of the agenda too, lol. Any players you are looking to swap or any agenda you wanna achieve by this holiday, BBS wise?
Mike: I’m always open to dealing. Anyone can go on this roster. We have so much youth, but TC will really be telling for us to establish who has to go and who is a building block.
braz: I’d love to add another young stud next to cousins. I project Enes as a starter but want something flashier
mouse: Been open about JR Smith being available but not interested in what I've been offered. The Bosh/Iggy duo is something I really like building around but this season I feel like we need to add some more defensive help around them. Sergio had a great year as a first time starter but between him and JR, I think our perimeter defense suffered.
Speaking of wheeling and dealing, elite players, Lebron James (2x), Carmelo Anthony (2x), Kevin Durant, has been traded the past two weeks, who you think had the best deals out of these trades? Were they fairly compensated?
Mike: The Durant deal was atrocious. PG without the +15 and shit for KD. Hate to see it. Abney should have just +15d KD.
braz: All the trades were good. Luckily when sargo broke the seal He set a high bar. Tbh I’m pretty happy Steve got what he wanted too.
mouse: I mean it seemed like Mike got the best haul for his guys. I didn't mind what Tyga got for KD either. Just good to see deals being made.
Interesting, with these type of trades happening more and more, do you think GMs putting players on the untouchable list is over? What do you do personally when you have these types of players?
Mike: I certainly hope so. Nothing worse than a GM hoarding a player his entire career. Where is the fun in that? Well - you know what I do. I deal them in their prime…
Braz: I had lebron untouchable until he went down inside after a +15 with his handles not Goin the way I wanted. I only took him off that list for curry talks. Those were closer than expected which made me more detached from Bron. Nanz rightfully decided to stay put and go on to repeat and I fell in love with cousins and went that way. Might regret it if Steve goes on to win a few but also good for him. It wasn’t working for me for too long.
mouse: Idk, I mean I consider Bosh close to untouchable personally. It really just depends on the GM. Sargo coulda had a 10 year championship run with CP3 and Melo and moved them out of boredom. You get a different GM who doesn't care like that, and they gonna milk that dominance for as long as possible. Lakers might win the next 5-6 titles with Curry.
First round of the draft is almost done, thoughts on how the draft unfolded(top 4 was Kawhi-Kyrie-Butler-Klay), Kemba falling to 9, Morris twins to Spurs, steals if any?
Mike: I don’t see any steals. After the top 4, it’s all role players. Morris is basically B- B- with around 90-95 potential now? Solid. Vuc needs an amazing TC. Kemba was shafted here. He’ll never be a high volume guy and he doesn’t defend or rebound well. My guy Bertans could be something with some camps and TC luck.
Braz: Kemba was meh last league when I had him but I’d be happy with that at 9. 1-4 was fine I woulda gone Klay 3 but he coulda gone high as 1
Mouse: I had no picks so I didn't even analyze the draft. Been busy all day then get on and seen the draft almost finished. Royal said some shit before that's mad true. We finish the draft in 1 night then take a week to do FA and preseason lol.
Without revealing much about your plans, what are your thoughts on the free agency class this season?
Mike: I just sent my “no bids” pm. This might be the worst FA since the first few years.
Braz: I don’t have plans. Someone max the Jazz guys! Sorry lums!
Mouse: Haven't looked in depth yet but this the first season in a couple years where we have MLE flexibility so I'm excited about that. Hoping to snag a player worth extending for a couple of seasons.
Well BBS has been on fire lately earlier we had 23 people on at one time, not bad for a program from 2001, but reforms/changes are important to keep it interesting, any suggestions to make the league more enjoyable?
Mike: Always open to changes to keep things fresh. Let us trade more first round picks!
Braz: Just keep it fun and cool and keep a high bar for competition.
Mouse: The GLeague addition was a nice step. It's gotta be something that doesn't involve Spencer getting more work added on to his plate. People have mentioned being able to trade later picks which I don't think is a bad idea. Spencer seems firm on the HC number so that's a no go. Definitely getting rid of tradebacks is a personal opinion of mine. Contradicting myself here with the more work piece, but maybe introducing an old man camp for players over 32. Every team gets 1 camp every 5 seasons and it can be used on a player over 32. Maybe do like a +3 to 2 different categories or something.
With that said, with multiple people always going over Hard Cap, I'm gonna be asking again is it time to revisit it along with Soft Cap? Thoughts on LB going way over with his team. Or should we just stop giving shitty deals? Is it joever for the enigmatic Laker boy especially with him not having his 2012 first?
Mike: No. Manage your finances better. It’s not hard. Raising the cap is just a temporary fix and it makes future maxes higher.
Braz: we need to stop giving out deals like I did for JO
Mouse: I told him that Sweetney deal was a mistake. Man texts me asking a ton of different questions then does that extension without even asking my opinion on it. Told him he shoulda declined and could of probably got him back for a little over MLE money. Teams need to analyze the cap situations around the league before making crazy decisions. Even if a team might have cap and you think they might go after your guy, they could have their own guy they need to bring back. The cap is reasonable if you know how to manage it.
Thanks, brothers last question! The NFL season starts in a month, what are your outlook for your real-life team and fantasy team?
Mike:2 of my 3 fantasy teams are reliant on Achane. Hope he doesn’t disappoint. Titan up!
Braz: Eagles should be good And my fantasy teams are nice for now
Mouse: Packers fan. Hoping for a great year. Haven't done fantasy in like 3 seasons. Just can't be consistent with it.
Mike: We went to my parents for the day. The kids went swimming, we had lunch. Came home, daughter took a 3 hour nap. We went for a nice walk with the dog and watched one of the minion movies. Good day.
