1. 1 1/2 seasons in here at BBS07. What are your thoughts? Having a blast?
PIG: It's good to be back! We have kind of been on autopilot the first two years of the league but I can't complain too much. I don't think I am going to be active as I was at a level during Covid so hopefully that doesn't backfire in the long run. I really like the ratings right now.
Braz- well in all honesty I thought I’d miss Ewing a lot more, just drafted Reggie Miller. Thought about that once prior to this article. I’m having fun. After my short hiatus I learned I just want to sim
Andy - Yeah it's been fine. Just slowly trying to build the squad. Can't wait for there to be more trading overall but we'll get there.
2. Trading has been nearly non existent, but that’s expected with creation draft. Win now teams have no picks to continue adding. Do we think Spencer should allow us to deal 1 or even 2 years of picks off the roster page? I think this will increase trading.
PIG: I don't know if I would be opposed to that but that definitely has the ability to destroy a franchise and I am not sure the WL is deep enough to convince guys to come to teams with the CY in place and they are missing 2 of their next picks. In order for this to work Spencer would need to make extended CY conditions for new GM's in certain situations.
Braz- everyone wanted creation draft for bordem and activity but didn’t see this coming? Your spot on above. Why would I, rebuilding trade for a 30 plus guy. Market is slow for me trying to shake up what I got in my locker room but it is what it is. No one likes my guys. I’d be cool with one more pick off the page. It would fuck over a lot of GMs who don’t plan well long term but that’s their problem
Andy - Eh. Once you let that rule change, it's hard to bring it back. I think trading will certainly change soon. I suspect this offseason you'll see more moves.
3. The ‘98 draft has dropped and looks deep. Give me your top 5 as you see it playing out.
PIG: Might be a wild take but I think Mike Bibby needs some strong consideration as a #1 pick in this draft. PG is exceptionally weak and with TC's and camps he might be the most valuable player coming off the board. I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't hate the pick.
If Dirk can play SF he is either 1/2. If no SF rule is made than Jamison's value comes up quite a bit, could be an LJ type player.
Probably would have Pierce over Carter just on my personal preferences. I think 4 of those guys can go in any order and I think it is a lot closer than maybe others realize.
Braz- Dirk, PP, VC in any order then I like
Bibby. After Bibby it’s like last year. Maybe 5-6 guys I’d take a flyer on. Jwill, Shard, Jameson, Trqylor, Hughes, Kandi. But I need to look a lot more at those last guys I mentioned. Ima need to see a mock tho
Andy - Dirk, VC, Pierce, Bibby, Jamison I think. Bottom 2 can change depending on gm I would imagine but I'll go with this. Draft looks fine overall. Hope more 2nd rd options.
4. Memphis has really emerged out West as one of the elite teams. Can they take down the Spurs, or does San Antonio repeat?
PIG: I have some problems I need to work out that I feel inhibits my ability to compete with both the Celtics and Spurs.
Braz- I thought Pig had what it takes last year but both were good teams. Let’s give them the green light
Andy - Sure. I think the Spurs are the best out west but I do think the Grizz have a shot. I think pig makes a move by the deadline to push things. Just not sure who.
5. The East is really a battle between the Bucks and Celtics. Do you think any other team can give these teams a run for their money, or do one of the Bucks/Celtics run through the East?
Pig: I think the Bucks have similar issues to me and probably need to make another move or two to have a legit chance. Celtics look really good especially after the Rodman trade, they are my top pick right now to win.
Braz- I could see the nets getting hot. Almost did last year. Let’s see how good Boston is in 2 sims after the Rodman deal. They should win. Bucks are young and exciting.
Andy - Nets would be the most obvious option.i think they can take either team down. Greeme is pretty good with dcs. That said, I think bucks/Celtics ECF with Celtics winning in 6.
6. Looking back at the ‘97 draft, do you have any regrets with how your draft went? Anyone you should have grabbed or traded up for?
Pig: Didn't really have a draft pick (2nd Rounder) who stinks. No regrets as it was used to acquire another creation draft piece.
Braz- I’m happy with Billups for sure. Wish I had another mid pick but couldn’t find a deal using nets picks.
Andy - Little disappointed with Miller. Mercer I think has been great and I figured Daniels would've been a pg project. I was looking at BJax but his age threw me off a bit. That said, I think my draft was ok.
7. The New Year is coming up. Any resolutions?
Pig: Been hitting the vape a little too hard in December. The flavored ones are easily the most addicting nicotine product I have ever tried. Haven't touched it in a week now so that is good. Probably want to cut down on that moving into 2024.
Braz- got a good foundation in my life. Home , wife, dog, family. Need to build on that personally with sustainable health and fitness. So in a sense be healthier
Andy - Sleep more. Sounds weird but I feel like I haven't done a great job of taking care of my physical and mental. Want to do that more. Relax more.
