That certainly placed some constraints on our options moving forward, but it also provided a clear path for our strategy. The overarching goal, given these circumstances, is to remain competitive over the next two years—doing everything possible to keep the team afloat and stay relevant in the highly competitive landscape of the BBS7. But this is just the beginning. The real vision is to establish a long-term plan that allows us to fully rebuild once these two years have passed. This is when I’ll truly make the Houston Rockets my team and put my personal stamp on the organization. It’s about laying the groundwork now, so when the time comes, we can launch into a full rebuild with a clear identity, strategy, and direction. Every move I make during this period will be done with both the short-term need to compete and the long-term vision of transforming the franchise into something special in mind. I recognize that the short-term goal of staying competitive is crucial—not just for the team’s current standing, but for the stability of the organization as a whole.
