1. Hello fellas! How did the season go for you? Did your team exceed, meet or fail to meet your expectations this season?
Sargo - We stunk. I was hoping the guys would play better, but it worked out with us jumping in the lottery and making 4 trades within the lottery. Fun day.
Nanz: It went fine … can’t complain! The team did its best but Kobe still needs help so ending up with the 4th pick was great… until we fell in the lotto yet again! Can’t catch a break with these lottos but what can you do. Kobe looks awesome and it was a solid first season for Shard. Not bad.
DB - Heyyyyy! We sucked! Really sucked. But didn't suck enough where we were a top 3 projected team. In the end it didn't matter though as I jumped to the 1st overall pick!! I guess everything happens for a reason. So while we failed to meet early expectations it all worked out.
2. The draft is chugging along, there has been a flurry of trades, finally, what are your thoughts on the value these picks are going for?
Sargo - I love it! I understand guys targeting a guy and doing what they want to get that guy. I was the benefactor. I won’t complain, because when I see a guy I want, I will overpay too.
Nanz: Its pretty wild and awesome that we had all these trades and I even took part in them! It’s a weird draft because I think we all felt really good about 6 players (ish), and as we got closer to the draft, it seems like there were a few people liked a lot more. I love Manu so I was happy to trade up and get him. Wolves trading up 1 spot for 3 picks seems wild to me but hey! They got their guy!
DB - I think Sargo is cleaning up. No clear cut number 1 pick. In hindsight, I should have taken the Wolves offer of the 3rd overall pick and more picks for 1. But I really did want AK. This is crazy but I love it. It's so good for the league. Let the trades happen. See what happens and get weird. Have some fun! I should have jumped on it and got more assets. I would have still got AK.
3. We are nearly done with the lotto, any surprises that happened thus far?
Sargo - Rip Hamilton over Marion but I actually think it’s the right pick. Rip has great notes. He’s going to be a star.
Nanz: I guess the trade to get Brand? I mean his notes were meh but I think he is still going to be awesome. Also, looks like people were quiet about Rip until draft day… I thought Marion was going there but what do I know! I stankkkkkkk
DB - RIP feels like he went higher than expected but maybe that's fine. I think that's the only thing i'm noticing off the top. Shawn Marion seems like he dropped too. Nice steal for the Pistons I think. Might turn out to be the best pick.
4. If you were predicting these draftees careers who would you believe would have the best careers. List the top 5.
Sargo - AK 1
Manu 2
Baron 3
Artest 4
Rip 5
Nanz: Welll…..I’m gonna go with 1. Manu 2. AK 3. Baron 4. Brand 5. Artest? I think AK with the stocks is going to bring is going to be quite something.
DB - 1 - AK
2 - Manu
3 - Baron Davis
4 - Brand
5 - Shawn Marion
5. Predict who wins ROTY and why?
Sargo - I’ll say Manu. He’s gonna get max camped and will average 20-25ppg out of the gate. He’s a stud.
Nanz: I would say probably AK since he is gonna have some sick STOCKS right off the bat? But I am also hoping it is Manu and he is dropping 25+ all day… everyday….
DB - AK or Brand I think. I think Brand will have the scoring and rebounding that make it look nice on paper. AK might have the intangibles and defense to make him a run for his money. But if I had to guess I bet Brand wins it.
6. What is your [plans for the off-season, any big trades you are looking to make? A splash in FA?
Sargo - I should have around 20M in cap and would love to sign 1 max guy. I’m tossing maxes around like crazy. Need to add some talent in FA.
Nanz: Well we traded our picks so yeah…. looking to sign a good FA player and add some talent to the team. After that, I think itsjust about getting good fillers and finding the right role players to go with Manu and Kobe.
DB - I have tons of cap space. Hope to sign someone big. If I could snag 2 people that would be heaven on earth. But I just hope I steal someone that is a good player. That's the goal. I have so much salary I need to grab someone. Let's hope so! I don't have any trades on the horizon but you never know.
7. Free Agency looks loaded! Predict 2 of the MAX free agents that will leave their former team for greener pastures.
Sargo - I’ll say Marbury and Ben Wallace - mainly because that’s two of the guys I want the most. Would be smitten to get any of them.
Nanz: Oh man…. I dk! Wallace and Marbury? No idea lol
DB - Ben Wallace is leaving and Kerry Kittles is leaving. I think those two guys bounce! Idk no real reasons at all. Just guessing lol.
8. Seems activity will continue to go up once more players come in, were you at all worried about the trade market for the first couple years?
Sargo - I wasn’t concerned. Trading was hard with no fillers and teams set in their ways. We are picking up now and rolling!
Nanz: Not really. It is what it is and we always have our ups and downs. If this draft was any indicator, its gonna get funky!
DB - I was a little bit worried but I guess we all forgot how it goes early on in leagues. Trade market was what it was. Not many trades and guys either trying to win or tank. It wasn't that exciting but I think things are starting to pick up and about to get really interesting. This is where it gets fun! Let the games begin.
9. Championship weekend is almost upon us! Who do you have winning their respect conferences?
Sargo - Niners and Ravens is the obvious choice right? I really hope Kc doesn’t make it. Sick of them.
Nanz: I’ll go with the Niners and the Ravens. They have been nasty on each end and would be a sick Superbowl.
DB - I guess it's the safe pick but Niners and Ravens. What everyone has said all along. I think these two will come out on top. I hope so at least. I'm in a survivor pool and I would love if they both made it! wooooooo
10. Wouldn’t be right if I didn’t ask a NBA question, Who would you rather start your franchise with (in their primes), Giannis, Embiid, Jokic?
Sargo - Jokic or Giannis but I’ll lean Jokic. Just an insane skill set that hasn’t been seen before. Fun fun player.
Nanz: Give me Jokic… this guy is insane. The man can do it all and there is nobody like him. Love to watch him play !!! well I mean if I watched more of the NBA im sure I would love to watch him play…
DB - Jokic. So fucking nasty! But all are great in their own right. I think any franchise would love to have any of these three fine men. I would take Jokic. Coming off a ring, amazing player, doing unreal things. Sign me up!
