positional d plays a BIG part in opponent FG%, Post D is a bigger factor, plays a very significant one, Perimeter D still has an impact, about half of post d, but that makes sense since essentially all non jump shots are governed by Post D. its why bigs can be effective at SG. Yeah they get torched on the perimeter, but, the Post D they have means they still defend well against the majority of shots taken. Drive D still clears

I mean, I can just run two teams with min and max perimeter defense in the same league, same division. See the opponent percentages way higher on the team without it.
Also, the real reason its so difficult is, especially at SF, Horry can have A+ d with like 60 max for any one rating. Its hard to tell who is ACTUALLY good at d just off rating since drive d is actually meaningless, so one A- can be great and another awful

however, trap and press also impact perimeter d numbers, more you trap and press, more likely you are to get burned if you dont steal (trap I feel more on the three point line)
