The Contract Year
1. If you go 4 years without winning 42 games or making the playoffs you will enter your Contract Year. If you fail to make the playoffs or win 42 in the fourth season, you will be fired.
2. You may return to the WL after being fired.
I had a convo with a respected GM and we discussed making the CY a little larger. I decided to go with a 4 year window.

i'd love to know the respected GM's argument for why you need four seasons before you can win 42 games. we're doing the CY right now and the usual suspects are in it (all due love and respect to both of these men), so idk what we expect to change about a five-year window other than allowing good GMs to tank longer.

I think 3 years is a solid window. I didn't think it needed editing. But I heard some argument for a bigger window, most notably the draft classes being worse. Also like the group of Gms and our WL isn't outstanding so I see no harm. Only teams would've been in the CY next year and neither of them were the Gm I talked to. |
