Alright, let's get this roundtable up! Should be some interesting answers to these interesting questions.
1. Alright, biggest topic- CY has been changed from a 4-year cycle to 5 years. What are your thoughts on this, and is it good for the league in whole?
mike - I think it’s silly. At the same time, I’m all for getting rid of the current CY system all together and coming up with another way to hit tanking teams. Something like you can’t camp players after missing playoffs for 3 or 4 years and a row and every year you miss after that period, your pick continues to drop X amount of spots.
Braz - I don’t really mind and I think people focused too much on how it could impact a few minor individuals. With the pace that rookies are developing coming in more raw versus being major day one contributors and most cases it makes sense to me. Also look at the waiting list you’re gonna fire someone to replace them with shit
Ding Dong Boys - interesting topic coversation..I think it's good for the league right now. The Waitlist doesn't seem very long and it's probably really hard for Spencer to find GMs. It was like that last league so I get it completely. It allows GMs to tank 1 year longer and really build a solid core if they do it right. I'm mixed on it but in the end active GM's are important so if it gives people another year...so be it!
nybombers3 - It is what it is. Doesn't bother me really. The WL isn't amazing anyways. I think overall the focus is still essieclalt the same. We don't want people to tank forever. I'm sure there's a way to make that work even without an actual CY. As is though, 5 should be enough to build a winner.
2. 2004 Draft has come and gone- thoughts on how that draft went down? I was going to say talk up your rookies- but two of you guys only had 2nds added to your roster, and one of y'all had no picks.
mike - It was a weird draft. Josh looks meh but has his camps left. Need to see how he sims. Humphries and Wright look like absolute steals for me so that makes up for Josh having a meh TC.
Braz - I ended up trading my picks away. And I’m happy I did so because at that pic I probably would’ve taken Livingston and been pretty upset. Kid and Eric both went down in camp. I have my next year so maybe I reset and see where we go.
Ding Dong Boys - ahaha looks like a fun draft. After first TC, doesn't seem great though for a few GMs. I feel for my pal habes. Deng looks...meh. But Josh Smith doesn't look that great either for the third overall pick. IDK interesting draft. I haven't combed through every player but there were some nice gets later towards the end of the lotto. Any first round steals or 2nd round steals? Haven't heard about any. Building through the drafts is tough but this plays to having an extra CY. It's hard to win quickly building through the draft.

As for Josh himself, I think he'll be good still. One TC isn't enough to call him a bust or anything like that.

mike - Rebuild for one more season and attempt to win next year.
Braz - to win as many games as possible with LeBron and kidd it won’t be too stressful. But you never know I’ve had teams that would be amazing that did not pan out. I feel like we’re lacking a true third score because kid has predominantly been a non-option and just went down and scoring attributes. I think you’ll be fine but I’m really interested to see how it does if he’s 25+ we could be feeling good if he’s not at the gift stack has some run and then I’ll be disappointed with both and look for a trade.
Ding Dong Boys - I'm trying to contend for a title! I don't know if we have the chops and can do it but we shall see. My team won 37 games last year. I had two valuable assets in Dirk and AK, a couple expirings and 1 pick. Everyone got on me for trading AK and then trading bosh. But I filled out my roster. Added a couple picks. Got a center, a point guard, a SF, and SG. I put together a lineup. Now of course I'd like to keep them both but it would have taken a lot longer and I would have had to somehow get my picks back. I like how we look right now.
nybombers3 - Reset for now. Going to wait and see what's out there for deals. I think we aren't super far but need to resign some important fellas this offseason and keeping that in mind, I'm holding back a little bit on certain players.
4. Kings seem to be at a crossroads- they've got Shaq, Nash, and a declining Cherokee Parks with a big deal (he still has stocks, to be fair). But Hedo got yoinked from them in FA. They don't have their pick this season, which might make a trade of Shaq or Nash unpalatable. What should they do?
mike - They should try and get their pick back using Nash or Shaq and then hit the reset button. Even if they add talent, they are kind of fucked given the contracts they have on the books.
Braz - well let’s start off by saying he should never ask me for LeBron again especially for an old fat shaq who doesn’t hit free throws. I think they have enough juice to reset this year. They just need to make a few stars smart signings. At this point, I wouldn’t trade any picks. Two for one deal around Park or Nash could serve them well. He may as well wait for next draft to trade shack unless something really awesome is offered considering he doesn’t have his pick it’s hard to take youth there.
Ding Dong Boys - They should trade the house for their picks back and tank. For some reason, he doesn't want to trade those guys and is standing pat. Fine..if you can't get your pick back this year try to win for one more season and then try to gather your picks again and just go full out tank mode. I think it would be hard to rebuild that roster right now. Unless you can get a good deal for Shaq. IDK. Gotta see what kind of offers he is getting.
nybombers3 - Reset. I don't think they are that far off from a reset overall. Find some spare parts and fuck it. I think they have their picks starting next year right? They should be ok. Next year, see where things last and either reset again or tear it all down. I do think moving Shaq next year is ideal.
5. LeBron had a +5 TC. Tony freaking Delk had a +5 TC. What's with all these ginormous leaps in TC? We've all been doing this awhile- can y'all recall your biggest FBB TC jumps? For me- Tony Delk has to be my answer because that was out of freaking nowhere at age 31.

6. Nostalgia time- is there a player in any sim league you've been in where you've just been like "man, that player is the greatest player I've ever seen."? For me- Etienne Priera from one of the UOSL leagues was insane. But we've had some great BBS players. Give me one or a couple that you can think of.
mike - Sean Ellison was one of my favorites last BBS. Good player. I always want LeBron and never get his ass. He’d be fun to have.
Braz - Nikola Mirotic in like a 2012 Bundy league was like 30/12/4 and the next best player was like 25/11/2.5. Hopefully Lebron turns into something wild
Ding Dong Boys - Magic Johnson last BBS was amazing lol. Super duper. I miss him so much. mmmmmm St. Cloud in an early version of BBS when we created players was nasty as fuck. Jamal Crawford in another version as well. Just a few off the top of my head.
nybombers3 - I had a player in an old NBN league. I think his name was Nemjar or some shit like that. He was something like A- A- C A- A-. He was pretty good/fun. I'm sure there are plenty of other studs I've had but idk. He stands out currently.

mike - No, but you need to start to add now. Terry is best suited as backup 1/2.
Braz - you got pretty lucky I think you woulda been cyd if you didn’t deal with the bucks. Next year I think you’ll be fine. This draft is supposed to be weak so I’d build toward next year and not put out self in Cy if you can. That line up is raw see if you can get any other vets or break down Walt’s exp into a few guys.
Ding Dong Boys - I think you will be alright. You got some assets and talent. You did pretty solid in preseason and you have your picks. I think you will be fine.
nybombers3 - Hm. I think your a few moves away still but I doubt you get CY'd. Focus on getting a new SF. SG as well. idk how JT sims but even if you can get a PG and move JT to bench. Options are there. I think it's mostly about filling out the holes and going from there.
8. Alright, IRL NBA talk time. Beginning of the playoffs- who you picking to win it all this season?
mike - Probably Denver or Boston. That’s the obvious choice. But I’ll go with a homer pick and my Knicks!!
Braz - I think the bucks win it all but let’s go Knicks. I missed Saturday game but when through the highlights. Wild one for Mitch
