1. How is the season going so far?
zinger : It’s as expected. Figured we’d be brutal for a second consecutive season. Need to finish with a top 4 or 5 pick.
habes : Had a bad sim today but talking trade a ton lately and think I have a few big deals on the horizon. Having FUN! Shoutout Skillz, I miss you every day.
chipper : 1. Terribly. I thought I'd be much better but we're barely over .500.
2. Looking at the draft, who’s your top 5?
Cp3 should be a stud as I think theres some shortage of PG in the league right now. Cp3 always goated in fbb. Deron should be nice. I like to roll the dice with Bynum at worse he has 90 pot. not feeling spence adjusting 17-18 yr olds irl to 19 yr old not necessarily him but not feeling it. Bogut should be ok but i dont like bigots. Granger should be nice but i feel like he has Manu vibes where he'll dominate yr 1-2 and be soso father with potential.
zinger : Paul, then the next 4 can go any which way. Based on my mock, I went Bogut, Granger, Deron, Bynum.
habes : CP3, Granger, Deron, Bogut, Lou? It’s hard to say without notes, but I feel like Lou is going to be a great simmer even with the unexciting ratings. Other guys in the mix: Amir, Ilyasova, Gerry Green, Marvin Williams.
chipper : 2. Chris Paul/Danny Granger/Andrew Bogut/Marvin Williams/Andrew Bynum. Not necessarily in that order but those were the 5 that jumped out at me before looking at any notes.
3. In the East, the defending champs Celtics are still one of the top teams. Will they come out of the East again?
zinger : I don’t see why not. Gil has really developed into a star. He looked like a bust after the first TC but this shows that guys need to be patient with their prospects.
habes : Maybe? Every top team has flaws. Cavs are thin, Nets need wing talent, Knicks seem to need a little more OOMPH. Celts are led by my boy Grant Hill and anything is possible with a leader of men of his caliber.
chipper : 3. As much as I hate giving Svedda any credit- I think the Cavs can come out of the East. But it wouldn't surprise me to see DBW do it again.
4. In the West, The Kings traded for Finley. Will this push them to repeat as WC champs or will someone else take them out?
zinger : I don’t know. Possibly. They’ll probably miss Parks though. Need another big.
habes : Nah, they couldn’t afford to lose Parks and weren’t great in the first place. Seems wide open with the Grizz losing former Knicks coach Derek Fisher. I like the Dallas Mavericks to get piping hot and run away with it.
chipper : 4. No. Someone else will take them out. Mostly because he's already been trying to flip Finley.
5. Who are some dark horses from each conference that you believe will make some noise?
douche zinger : The Heat or Suns can make a run. Think Miami has no DC in and are still above .500. Suns just stacked w big names but need depth.
habes : The Dallas Mavericks in the West. In the East let’s say the Heat. They’re under the radar but have a ton of talent. Something I’ve been thinking about, everyone raves about how hard the Heat practice, what an intense culture they have. And their players are literally always hurt. How about that?
chipper : 5. I already said the Cavs but they're not really a dark horse. Um- the Heat are sneaky good- I'd pick them as a dark horse from the East. And I think the Suns are too talented to still be where they're at by the end of the season.
6. The Hawks are coming up on a potential CY season and are currently out of the playoffs. What do they need to do going forward to try and reset this year?
zinger : Their pick is as good as gone. Probably need to deal one of Al or Sofo too. Hawks need to put their homerism aside and move on from Terry at PG. He’s best suited as a backup.
habes : Move Dejan to SG, de-emphasize the bigs until they’re more developed, get a rebounding SF and run an outside offense. Cheers.
chipper : 6. I really think I need a better SG/SF- and move Dejan to whichever spot that new player takes up. Delk's percentages are AMAZING- but his volume isn't there. If he was scoring 5 more points a game I'd be totally set.
7. What’s a team that needs to rebuild ASAP?
zinger : The Kings. The Magic. Both look to be stuck where they are at. Both are solid GMs and can turn it around though.
habes : Hmm. The Bulls? Not sure what’s going on there. They can’t compete with that roster.
chipper : 7. The Kings. Problem now is they don't have their picks- otherwise they could probably get a lot for Shaq or Nash.
8. Other side of things. What’s a team that has a rough future going forward?
zinger : Jazz. They tore it down and need an elite talent. They got basically nothing for Mash and Sheed. It’s going to be rough and they will for sure get close to the CY.
habes : Odd pick but I’ll say the Wolves. Their point differential is -1.6. Big Gary P is going to retire soon. Don’t have bigs. Do have Dajuan Wagner.
chipper : 8. The Thunder. No pick this season, stuck with that godawful Parks contract, it looks rough for Break right now.
9. Looking at prior drafts, what are some of the more disappointing busts (or at least dudes that haven’t lived up to the hype) dudes you can recall?
zinger : Darko. We knew he’d bust though right? I was hopeful. Play could have had Ray Allen for him. Sheesh. Ricky Davis looked the part earlier but he hasn’t developed.
habes : Hmmm. Gerald Wallace. RJ. David West should be better. Nene, Nenad, ZBo. Feels like a lot of bigs were made a bit too flawed.
chipper : 9. I'm going back to the creation draft- I'm still surprised Zydrunas Ilgauskas busted so hard. I thought he was a good pick with where he was picked and he flat-out tanked it.
10. Looking at the NBA playoffs thus far, please discuss how amazing Jalen Brunson is. Thank you.
zinger : Jalen BrunsHIM. What a player. Best Knick in the last 30 years? Yes. Love this team. They fight, they grind. The boys are a bunch of dogs and makes it easy to root for them (especially when they keep winning).
habes : The young man is the GOAT Knicks point guard in my lifetime. That’s right. Even better than Raymond Felton. Chris Duhon. Jose Calderon. Chris Childs. Charlie Ward. Derek Harper. Steven Franchise. Starbury. Baron Davis, Jason Kidd, Chauncey Billups, Pablo Prigioni, Howard Eisley, Mark Jackson, Frank Ntilikina, Emmanuel Mudiay, Dennis Smith Jr., Earl Smith’s brother Chris Smith.
chipper : 10. I feel bad saying this because I already know how this is going to end for y'all- the Knicks are going to choke it in the playoffs and/or Brunson is going to pick up an injury that limits his effectiveness. He's going to land on a ref's ankle or something.
I don't make the future- I just call it.
