hello friends and welcome to another rousing edition of Tyga Talks !! Today we will continue our conversation with legendary GM of the 76ers mouse as we discuss everything BBS as well as the most pressing issue of the real world!
1. You've been busy getting ahead of the off season with end of the season blockbuster moves to bolster your team for the upcoming year. Pending some unforeseen circumstances, your team will be acquiring PG Jason Kidd and C Ben Wallace, 2 elite level veterans at their positions. What was the thought process behind these moves?
Mouse: Well we're going on 3 years of missing the playoffs, and although we still have 1 year remaining before entering our contract year, we wanted to get ahead of the curve and build a playoff contender for the upcoming season. We were really impressed with our young big 3 in Iggy, Hedo, and Bosh and felt as though they showed us enough this season to ultimately get some veterans around them. Being able to bring in 2 guys like Kidd and Big Ben without trading our core 3, while also keeping our 2006 and 2008 1sts just seemed like a no brainer move for us. We've been able to solidify our starting 5 while holding onto some assets to bolster our bench if need be.
2. You also made some minor moves with then acquisition of Sophomore PG TJ Ford, while also moving PG Mo Williams to our organization for SG Dajuan Wagner. Care to elaborate on these 2 moves?
Mouse: Well Ford was a guy we had some interest in when we noticed he was available. Uncamped 22 year old PG who has always been solid in leagues. Felt as though he was already better then Mo, without any camps so I'm willing to take the chance. Iggy, Bosh, and Hedo are already camped out and with no other young guys on the roster, Ford gives us a prospect to invest in for this season. If he shows some improvement with the +25, he could ultimately be the PG of the future when we decide to move on from Kidd, or could even be a guy we trade in a future deal for more assets than what we gave up to get him in the first place. As far as Wagner goes, he's another player we've had our eye on for a couple seasons. We love those B A type scorers, and we simply needed to move on from Mo anyway. We're gonna throw a +7 on him and see what that does, and the plan is to have him potentially backing up the 1/2/3 as a super sub offensive spark off the bench. We think he can be a 12-15 ppg in limited minutes, and even a 20 ppg starter if injuries were to occur.
3. What's your plan for the remainder of the offseason? You seem to have a solid 6-7 guys in the rotation. What else do you feel like you need?
Mouse: Unless Ramos shows some significant improvement in training camp, we're gonna try and add another big to the roster. Whether that's through FA with our MLE, or maybe throwing our 08 1st out there with an expiring to see what we could get... either way a 3rd big would be essential to this roster. Also another wing player backing up Hedo would be nice and we plan on addressing that through FA. Another plan is to hopefully get a decent prospect with our early 2nd round pick to send to the G League this season. We had some thought in acquiring a late first, but we're hopeful we can find someone serviceable at #37.
4. Where do you see your team placing in the standings this season? Do you have high expectations for the team? Championship aspirations?
Mouse: We feel as though we'll have enough to definitely be a playoff team, but we're gonna keep the expectations low because in the past we felt like we had some legitimate rosters and always seemed to struggle in the regular season. We would love to be a 50 win team, but that will really depend on how the guys mesh together. We're excited to see what Bosh and Iggy can do this year, and also what Kidds leadership and experience brings to the rest of the team. A Championship is always the goal and we would be thrilled to add another trophy to the case, but right now the plan is to improve from last year, make the playoffs and continue to grow the young guys for the future success of this team.
5. Kendrick or Drake? Who you got winning this beef right now?
Mouse: Man I'm a Drake fan no doubt, and never really been a fan of Kendricks rappity rap ass but to be honest it's tough to say. I think the public consensus is Kendrick has won this, but like for me personally I've enjoyed every Drake song more. I listened to them all multiple times, while each Kendrick joint got like one listen from me. That's just my bias probably though. Didn't even finish that 6:16 joint. He just don't do it for me personally but the Not Like Us joint pretty dope. That Atlanta verse was fire. I think they both been lying about a lot of the shit they're spewing. The Drake being a pedo is gonna be what sticks the most from this. Really wondering how this ends but it's pretty clear these 2 dudes don't fuck with eachother. Cole definitely made the right decision bowing out. If he had just stayed silent and didn't do anything at all, he woulda looked a lot better though.
