1) Best FA signings?
mike - there’s a few. For starters, the Bucks needed to bring back JR Smith if they wanted to make CY. That was huge. The Pacers stealing Steve Francis and flipping for assets was a great move. On Day 2/3, my signing of Martynas was the best imo. He’s basically uncamped with just the Gleague camps. Going to be a great player for the Mavs. Low key loved the Ebi move for Eddy. He’s uncamped with very high A defense - just wish he gave him a multi year deal.
jr - Steve Francis. I think Jah didn’t send bids though. The year after i have cap good players went cheap because of inactives lol.
beastly- Pacers signing Fisher and Franchise, which in turn give him more assets. Deng is nice would have given another year for bird purpose though why I rate it B-B+ right now.
2) worst fa signings?
Mike-Dirk…. But TOR couldn’t let him walk. This contract is why I moved him last season. I’m sure someone will bite and take that deal though. There really weren’t many BAD deals.
jr- dirk purely on the size of the contract. Hes a good player but man that’s expensive. Then again I took JO’s contract.
beastly-Dirk re-signing, he cant re-sign Granger max now. Already shelled out 2011 first to get rid of a rookie contract because of it yikes. I would be ok letting Dirk walk. Sweetney is meh I guess but its short but notable contract absorber habes already got Shaq so goodluck to Dirk especially.
3) Thoughts on the Thunders trades
mike-Sheesh. Fred Jones is fucking ass and a negative asset imo. The deals were all horrible. With that said, not sure the Thunder finish in the top 10 of the draft so I dealt the pick.
jr - They are whatever. Sure he didn’t get a good deal but he got under HC!
beastly-He's back!!!! break was improving lately but hes back to the old break.
4) Who had the best offseason?
mike- Indy crushed it in a rebuild. Suns had a solid start to the rebuild. The Knicks getting Duncan was great. Loved our offseason too.
jr - Royal. He got Brook, and 2 good PGs that he is getting assets for. Nice.
beastly-Hornets, gave up KG pretty cheap but I had no choice I have 0 non-serious offers aside from him so hopefully Bogut improves
5) What teams are in the best position long term? Worst position?
mike- The Thunder. No players of real value, no cap space and no picks. It’s actually impressive.
jr - long term? Maybe the pacers but they have way too many young bigs. Some may die. Worst probably thunder what picks do they own?
beastly-Mine in theory but all depends if I can get one of the 3 guys I like next draft. Whoever gets Steph next season too. Breakthewalls has no picks the next 3 yrs and a 30-40 team as constructed RIP. Raptors close since Habes already took Shaq, cause I doubt someones taking that Dirk contract. Lakers I guess but he has his next 2 picks. and still has Kobe. He should consider trading Kobe tbh.
6) thoughts on player ratings?
mike-what do you mean?
jr- i don’t have any problem with them except why isn’t Wade a top 5 player?
beastly-huh
7) Thoughts on the new Cy rule?
mike- Feel like the cy rule has been in place for a while now with the extra year. It’s whatever. I don’t think we have GMs to fill the spots anyways.
jr - what changed?
beastly-Bring back the 3 years but guess I can tank til 2012 then compete on that shitty Giannis draft.
8) any teams doomed?
mike- OKC yes. Just playing to reset for the next 3 years. It’s grim.
jr - I think i may be a CY victim. The first and only hue.
beastly-didnt you ask this already? refer to my earlier answer brother. Break has the bleakest future tho but he reset last season so who cares
9) give me a hot take
mike-The Knicks will win the East and the championship… in BBS and real life.
jr - Knicks have the best and deepest team in the NBA.
beastly- Two of my previous "big 3" are overrated. Hornets and Suns in hindsight prob losses the KG deal in the long run. Westbrook is not a top 5 pick. Sour grapes but Celtics only a dynasty because of potential boost
