Draft: Creation Draft, Round 1 Pick 8
Teams: Mavs, Rockets, Celtics, Warriors
Drafted in the 1st round of the creation draft, Hill went 8th overall to the Dallas Mavericks. From the beginning, Hill was a triple-double threat from the SF spot. He was a massive advantage at SF for his premier rebounding ability. While he was never a true consistent 3pt shooter, Hill never dipped under 34% from 3 past his rookie season. He also provided solid D. His all around skills helped the Mavericks having a winning season for the first 4 seasons including two titles and the best single-season record currently in 1998 where the Mavs went 68-14. Mavs went to three straight finals from 97 to 99 and were able to win in 98 and 99. Hill was not a player you'd see on the league leaders page but his abilities were apparent. After the 2000 season, Hill was moved to the Rockets. While his turnovers increased in Houston, his scoring took a massive step up as well. During these two seasons, the Rockets had their best 2 season run so far and Hill played a big role. After 2002, he was moved to the Celtics where he was able to add one more ring to his resume in 2003. Afterward, he spent two more seasons in Golden State and his last season back in Dallas. Throughout his career, Hill has only played on one team with a losing record. It's a testament to Hill's amazing overall ability and what makes him a HOF.
