This restart has been fun and the first season wrapped up with a lot of GMs excited for the draft and ready to get through the first 2-3 seasons. Our first draft was pretty good with some big time headliners.
1. Toronto Raptors- Tim Duncan C 6'11'' 250 21 B C C B+ B A
-Taking a look at the draft this is a slam dunk pick and the way first top pick in the league. It goes to Big Mac. The legend himself goes from loving second to liking first. Duncan
-Grade A
2. Philadephia 76ers - Tracy McGrady SF 6'8'' 210 18 B C+ B- C C A
-Elite jumping. Solid jumpshot, passing, quickness and strength. Mediocre inside, 3-point shooting, and steals.
-It really does not get much better than Tmac. He could be an easy top pick in any draft and should eventually turn into one of the league’s best perimeter players. Tmac is another perfect pick to start the league. Both teams with out any players saw the pay off in the end-Grade A
3. 3. Charlotte Hornets – Ricky Davis SG 6'6'' 195 18 B+ C C- C C- A
-Elite jumping. Good inside scoring. Mediocre handles, strength, and 3-point shot. Solid Jump shot and steals. Poor passing. Poor blocks.-Ricky Davis brings a lot to the table with already B+ inside scoring noted as good for a SG. Last rendition he was a straight legend. Sargo’s first pick ever is prob a star in the league and he should be happy he jumped up to 3. Ricky is also 18 year old so you can assume the pot and celling for Ricky are high. Likely also the changes he gets dealt.
-Grade B+ (only bc it’s a drop off from Duncan and Tmac)
4. Minnesota Timberwolves - Stephen Jackson SF 6'8'' 219 19 C+ B- C+ B- C A
-Good jumpshot and strength. Solid steals. Mediocre inside and handles. Is eligible to play SG.
-Jackson was one of my favorite guys in real life making an impact in some big games. Coming in as a 6’8 wing at 19 years old Jackson will be certainly be an above average starter. It seems he has good pot and a solid base. I’d say he has a slow start but ends up good. Good pick though since he already had Marbury. It prob doenst feel great though for Tyga who had 1 projected most of the year. -Grade B
5. Denver Nuggets - Chauncey Billups PG 6'3'' 220 21 C B C B C- A
-Good jumpshot quickness and handling. Mediocre inside, 3-point shooting, passing, and steals. -The Denver Nuggets get a great fit with Billups. He will hopefully develop into a score first PG and Braz was lacking both a PG and a scoring option. In a deflated league what does a star look like? I think Billups will help Denver reset in a few years but have a slow start to his career like predicted above. Maybe like 18 ppg rookie year.
-Grade B+
6. Indiana Pacers - Keith Van Horn PF 6'10'' 220 22 B- B- D+ C C+ A
-Good jumpshot and strength. Solid inside scoring. Mediocre handles, steals, quickness, defensive rebounding, and 3-point shot. Poor blocks. Can be moved to SF with a -5 handling and -5 defensive rebounding hit.-KVH rounds out the big 6 talked about on the boards and represents a grouping of picks 3-6 who call could have been interchanged. Van Horn if I remember correctly was a cheat code at SG and led the Cavs to some early success. He comes in here taking a hit on handles and D reb to move to SF but that is likely the path. I like the little shake up here with that stip but think KVH has a strong base and becomes a top 10 scorer in the league if he has some good TCs.
-Grade B+
7. New York Knicks - Brad Miller C 6'11'' 244 21 B- C C+ C+ C+ A
-Good strength and jumpshot. Solid inside scoring. Mediocre Blocks. -Big Brad Miller looks like a pretty solid prospect. Little boring across the board but good base as he is strong and will hit his FTs. It seems hes mid for boards and blocks. But we are looking at someone whos a good 4th 5th starter on a great team putting up like 12/12/2 or something with good FT. The critics say this is a new tier of draft but most would be happy with Brad outside the top 5 in a draft.
-Grade B+
8. Portland Trailblazers - Kelvin Cato C 6'11'' 255 23 C C- D B+ B- B
-Good strength, post defense and defensive rebounding. Solid Blocks and handles. -Some did not expect this pick but when you think about Broph and his expertise its developing a Fessor Leonard type. Cato already brings good strength defense and rebounding. On top of that solid blocks. Broph is running all the number possibilities and has his entire build mapped out. He will be perfectly camped and a solid starter center down low for Portland if Parks doesn’t work out
-Grade B
9. Los Angeles Lakers - Tim Thomas PF 6'10'' 230 20 B- C+ D C+ C A
-Good strength. Solid jumpshot. Solid inside. Mediocre 3-point shot and handles. Is allowed to move to SF.-Tim Thomas looks like KVH lite but that’s just because they are both tall and will be moved to SF. Tim improves his defense at SF and should be a good scoring option to start his NBA career. The swing man was moved to Denver in a 2 pick deal from LAL so the Nuggets are fortunate enough to have some scoring help. But how will he fit with a pro like Donyell? Maybe one will be moved for a SG.
-Grade B+
10. Los Angeles Clippers - Maurice Taylor C 6'9'' 260 21 B+ C D+ C+ C A
-Elite strength. Good inside scoring.
-I am a bit unsure of this pick here he has some good ratings to put the ball in the basket but other then that there is not much for us to know. The C rebounding is not ideal so I can not imagine he is startable but I guess if he can score at a high % that is a good back up. Some much better bigs I liked on the board. -Grade C
11. Chicago Bulls - Brevin Knight PG 5'10'' 173 22 C C B+ B+ C- A
-Elite quickness. Good jumpshot, handles and perimeter defense. Very poor blocks. Good steals. -The second PG drafted in the league is Brevin Knight. He goes to Chicago with out high scoring ratings but some good foundations such as elite quickness and a good jump shot. He will probably get all his camps pre tc so I would love to see his pre season in Chicago. Having an efficient, low TO PG with potential could get Chi into playoffs in year 2.
-Grade B
-Good strength and jumpshot. Solid blocks.
-Pollard could have gone high as 10 low as 16 but I feel good about this player and his future development. This guy is strong, efficient jumper and seemingly good base for rebounding and blocks. Camps, time = good starting big. All that said he missed out on the next guy
-Grade C+
13. Oklahoma City Thunder- Adonal Foyle C 6'10'' 250 22 C D D- B+ C+ B
-Good blocks, strength and post defense. Mediocre rebounds. Mediocre handles. Mediocre O-Rebounding and jumping. Poor quickness. -The former Warrior and McDonalds All American has a history of being an absolute stud in FBB. His good blocks and strength lend to a very unique player in a league lacking blocks. His might lack boards a bit but obvious area to camp early. I had him on the board for 7 but he goes 13. Best pick of the draft.
-Grade A+
14. Washington Wizards- Sarunas Jasikevicius SG 6'4'' 195 21 C A- B- C C C
-Elite jumpshot. Good quickness. Mediocre handles and inside. Poor steals. -I like the pick. He seems like one of those real hit or miss guys but Jah wanted to be explosive. Sarunas already has an elite category and with camps could get buckets early. He will not be much of a defender so can’t grade this too high over taking like Tony Battie but do not hate it
-Grade B
