1. HOUSTON ROCKETS
Paul George SG 6'8'' 220 20 B C+ C B C A
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good jumpshot. Solid inside scoring, steals, strength and jumping. Mediocre handling.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good jumpshot. Solid inside scoring, steals, strength and jumping. Mediocre handling.
Rockets land the 1st overall pick. They go with the guard out of Fresno State. Marty is doing a complete rebuild of the squad. Paul George will make an immediate impact day 1. You could have went a few different ways with this one but I think the Rockets select George #1 overall in this year’s draft.
2. PHOENIX SUNS
DeMarcus Cousins C 6'11'' 270 20 B C+ C C B A
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength and inside scoring. Solid jumpshot, post defense, offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding. Mediocre 3 point shot, handles and blocks.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength and inside scoring. Solid jumpshot, post defense, offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding. Mediocre 3 point shot, handles and blocks.
The Suns are up next. They have a lot of youth on this squad. Between DeAndre Jordan, Paul Millsap, Kevin Love, and Jrue Holiday, they have plenty of youth to go around and welcome DeMarcus Cousins with open arms to the roster. Cousins will come right in and pair up nicely next to Jordan. The Suns have one of the best big man young groups in the league. Should be interesting to watch their development.
3. BROOKLYN NETS
John Wall PG 6'3'' 210 20 B C B B+ C A
SPENCER'S NOTES: Elite jumping. Good quickness. Solid inside scoring, jumpshot, handling, passing, steals, perimeter defense.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Elite jumping. Good quickness. Solid inside scoring, jumpshot, handling, passing, steals, perimeter defense.
The Nets need it all. Well they do have Mike Conley so taking a point guard probably isn’t the best move. But when you have a guy like John Wall available at the 3 spot – you gotta do it. Wall has the potential to be the Rookie of the Year and will make an immediate impact to the Nets roster. He can even start at the 2 spot and tank a bit next year as well.
4. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Hassan Whiteside C 7'0'' 265 21 C+ D+ D- C+ B+ B
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength, offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding. Solid inside scoring, post defense and handling. Mediocre steals, blocks and jumpshot.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength, offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding. Solid inside scoring, post defense and handling. Mediocre steals, blocks and jumpshot.
Spurs need a lot of help. Well they do have Greg Oden and to a lesser extent, Anthony Morrow I guess but the Spurs have holes to fill. Adding in another big to pair up with Greg Oden will make a really powerhouse of a front court for the Spurs. Hassan has nice enough notes with good rebounding. You should really hammer his blocks early on and hopefully they develop into something nice. But Oden and Whiteside is a great starting point for the Spurs.
5. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Derrick Caracter C 6'9'' 275 22 B- C- D+ C C A
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength. Solid jumpshot and post defense. Mediocre inside scoring and handling.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength. Solid jumpshot and post defense. Mediocre inside scoring and handling.
The Thunder select Derrick Caracter here at 5. I think they take a huge risk here with a boom/bust pick. That C defense and C rebounding is scary for a center but there might be some potential here and he has some nice notes. Risky pick but could pay off.
6. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
Gordon Hayward SF 6'7'' 225 20 C+ B C+ C C A
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good jumpshot and handling. Solid 3 point shot and strength. Mediocre inside scoring and passing.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good jumpshot and handling. Solid 3 point shot and strength. Mediocre inside scoring and passing.
The Cavs go after Hayward. He has pretty nice rookie ratings coming in and could be a formidable forward in BBS. The Cavs are young and have some good youth on this roster. I could see them trading the pick and/moving these assets for proven talent around the league. I like Hayward and think he will become something in this league. Nice pick at 6.
7. LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
Lance Stephenson SG 6'6'' 230 20 C+ C C+ B+ C B
SPENCER'S NOTES:Elite handles. Solid strength, jumpshot, quickness, drive defense and perimeter defense.
SPENCER'S NOTES:Elite handles. Solid strength, jumpshot, quickness, drive defense and perimeter defense.
Lance might be the steal of the draft. ELITE handles. Coming in with B+ defense...I like this guy. If he’s there at might pick definitely going to try to snag him. I like his notes as well. I think he’s going to be a really good player in BBS for awhile. Game grabs him at the 7th spot. Clippers have Beasley, Rubio, among others, and add Lance here would be a nice get.
8. ORLANDO MAGIC
Derrick Favors PF 6'9'' 265 19 B- C D B- C+ A
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength. Mediocre inside scoring, jumpshot, handles, blocks and steals.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength. Mediocre inside scoring, jumpshot, handles, blocks and steals.
Derrick Favors looks pretty solid but his notes are not the greatest. Mediocre almost across the board. Not ideal but maybe there is something there. He is very young and will take some time to develop. Magic don’t have that much time but could use another big. I’m not sure I’d want to draft him with Blake on the roster but really not many options I’m seeing here that have a high reward potential.
9. UTAH JAZZ
Al-Farouq Aminu SF 6'8'' 220 20 B- C D+ B+ C+ B
SPENCER'S NOTES: Solid strength, steals, inside scoring, jumpshot and handles. Mediocre blocks, post defense, offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Solid strength, steals, inside scoring, jumpshot and handles. Mediocre blocks, post defense, offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding.
Jazz go Aminu here. They get a defensive forward with good rebounding. Lots of good notes and solids. He looks like a very impressive wing and I think Lums will be happy with this pick. He also might turn out to be a pretty good scorer with good defense. I like this pick here.
10. MILWAUKEE BUCKS
Larry Sanders C 6'11'' 235 22 C D D B B- B
SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength and blocks. Solid post defense and defensive rebounding.
Larry Sanders will be a good shot blocker and rebounder in this league. Bucks get a nice shot blocking big that are hard to come by in this league. Getting Larry late in the lotto is a great get and JR will be happy to add him to the starting lineup. Larry is something we’re all after so he will be a valuable player in this league for years to come.SPENCER'S NOTES: Good strength and blocks. Solid post defense and defensive rebounding.
11. DALLAS MAVERICKS (INDIANA PACERS)
Avery Bradley PG 6'3'' 180 20 C B- C B+ D+ B
SPENCER'S NOTES: Elite quickness. Good steals and perimeter defense. Solid jumpshot and jumping.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Elite quickness. Good steals and perimeter defense. Solid jumpshot and jumping.
Habes grabes Avery Bradley at 11. He has ELITE quickness should make him a very good scoring PG/SG in this league. Avery also has B+ defense and really good notes. Habes might have found himself a steal here at 11.
12. INDIANA PACERS (DETROIT PISTONS)
Alexey Shved SG 6'6'' 190 22 C+ C+ C+ C C- A
SPENCER'S NOTES: Solid jumpshot and quickness. Mediocre inside scoring, steals, strength and jumping.
SPENCER'S NOTES: Solid jumpshot and quickness. Mediocre inside scoring, steals, strength and jumping.
Royal does not have his 1st but not to worry he has the pick right after his own first! Pacers at the 12 go with Alexey Shved. Coming in probably with the second highest potential in the league. Looks like a prospect that will need a lot of development but one that may be worth it. Depends on what you camp but an intriguing prospect nonetheless.
13. WASHINGTON WIZARDS
Ekpe Udoh C 6'10'' 245 23 C C- D+ B+ C B
SPENCER'S NOTES: Solid blocks, post defense, strength and jumpshot.
Udoh has the possibility to be an elite shotblocker in this league. Comes in with B+ defense and nice notes. If you hammer his rebounding he could be a very intriguing starting big or 6th man in this league.SPENCER'S NOTES: Solid blocks, post defense, strength and jumpshot.
