Hello everyone, welcome to our Roundtable! Another season another roundtable, let's get into light question first, how's life lately friends?
JR: Life has been great but a little hectic. Work started Wednesday! Oh no! Plus just got a puppy and she has so much energy with my daughter turning 1 at the end of July. Been busy. Going to the As Giants game tomorrow too!
Mouse: Life is great! Nothing out of the ordinary. Still working staying active hitting the weights, running bball, or pickleball pretty much on the daily.
Sargo: Life is good. Daughter has a pizza party today after daycare and the parents organized a meet up at a. Brewery near us for the kids to drink - I mean play. Should be fun!
Great to hear folks! Now, we are reaching 300k posts, should we have the same reward that we have been getting for the post 100k posts? Personally I believe that the pot boost is fair and just, and should be retained for 300k, but curious what are your thoughts?
JR: I don’t care what the reward is. If pot boost is helping some and not others that’s too bad. But if we got a 4th AC for a player in a different category it would be cool.
Mouse: I'm fine with the 2 ACs, or 3 RCs, or whatever Spence usually does. Pot boost either has people say they are useless or make a player overpowered. I honestly don't care either way. Free reward regardless.
Sargo: I’d be fine with the +15 if there was some limits on who we can use it on. For example, you can’t use it on a player drafted in the lottery; or a player with more than 4 years experience. Something like that, idk.
Well, that's interesting answers, well the number one gripe was about Carmelo Anthony and Gilbert Arenas being superhuman, Carmelo Anthony has been traded to Steve, do you think that the compensation was enough, too much, or fair for both sides? Will we have another Melo?
JR: I think it was decent value. Harden probably is very flawed. Ibaka should be a good player. He should’ve waited one more season and seen if i got Kawhi Klay or Jimmy would’ve gave them plus more picks and Westbrook and got CYd with Melo.
Mouse: Imma be honest. That deal was so huge I didn't even look that thoroughly into it. When Play said some shit about Faria not getting his pick back I gave him credit for even looking at it that long lol. Gonna be dope to see Melo on a different team though to see just how good he really is on his own. CP3 was just as good tbh.
Sargo: The compensation was never going to be enough. Melo was probably worth 2x that. I dealt Melo because I really couldn’t enjoy him. If I won, every title would have an * in my eyes, as well as everyone else’s… For me, it was about gaining some interest back into the league and starting new. But no, we’ll never see another Melo. 20 years doing this and I’ve never seen a player that good. Kind of shocked more teams didn’t line up and offer their entire squads (cough Suns).
A team with assets(who knows if they are actually good) but looks like standing pat is my Suns, do you think the Suns missed out on potential game-changers by deciding to still rebuild for the 2011 Draft?
JR: Idk tbh. Don’t pay attention to many other teams other than mines. Who is even on your team?
Mouse: Nah if you got a plan stick to it. You're smart enough and a good GM so just trust whatever idea you got in your head.
Sargo: Yes. Melo should be a Sun. He has a lot of youth but the majority of it is flawed outside of PG. Jordan is a nice 10/10/2.5 big, but his ceiling is Tyson. The sooner he realizes that, the better. Kevin Love is essentially Michael Beasley here. Really just a backup and not an elite one at that. Jrue has looked awful, struggling to average 10ppg while shooting 35% with negative stocks. EG just sucks. Despite that truth, I would have done a deal for Melo around PG, Jordan and Picks/Jrue. Charles opted to wait.
Uhhh. Nonetheless, Brendan was 6 million over Hard Cap and was gifted by the Suns, in exchange the Suns got the 2013 pick of Wolves, and Knicks trading Duncan because of HC, how important is cap space moving forward, and should the Soft cap and hard cap be raised?
JR: Don’t raise anything. You need to manage cap better! If not face the consequences!
Mouse: I think the cap is okay although it makes things harder. I'm constantly doing math and thinking a year ahead. Was lucky to get rid of Jermaine before the file flip. It's been so strict and consistent which is why Ive said I think tradebacks are kinda corny and unrealistic. I get it increases trades but the idea of it is corny to me. If you're gonna get rid of the tradebacks, maybe increase the HC to $80 million. Not a significant increase but the $2 million could help and it's an even number.
Sargo: It’s always important, but more important to have friends who owe you. When I have cap, I try to take on contracts for guys who need a little help. Usually guys remember and are willing to help you out when needed.
Great answers folks, thats an interesting point of discussion, let's move on, with Melo traded I assumed he was the number 1 player with the most value, and he was traded, Who else do you think has the most value in the league right now that you want to acquire? Give a few if you can?
JR: I’d say lebron and KD are right there. Idk who I’d rather have but yeah those are the next ones besides Steph obviously. He won’t be traded though.
Mouse: Arenas comes to mind but I'm gonna take this time to big up my boy Bosh. Dude been DPOY like 4 times and I think he could easily be a 25/15 guy if I made him a vocal point offensively. Getting 17-18 as it is in a fast paced outside system as the 4th/5th option is impressive.
Sargo: Durant is up there, but probably Steph? Rookie Steph leading the Lakers to a title is wild. He got juiced too quick.
LB has been freed!! What are your thoughts on the hiring of the enigmatic Laker Boy? Will his trolling ways continue, do you have anything to add to the circumstances that he was hired after an anonymous post of racist comments?
JR: I don’t think he posted that tbh. I never seen him say or use that word to my knowledge. He’s annoying me already wish i knew he was gonna get pistons I wouldn’t have traded for those picks.
Mouse: He'll be a good addition especially over some of the guys who have been here for a while now. Great GM and an even better person. He doesn't even troll, just nags you with trades until you bite on something.
Sargo: I don’t think LB trolls. It’s just him being him. But, I have advocated for LB for a while. He’s an active GM - however, he is making us look like assholes after 48 hours. He made one trade, hasn’t been active at all. Disappointed.
Well with him on the league who you think are the biggest trolls of BBS right now? Will LB be number 1?
JR: Habes is the biggest troll here and it’s not close.
Mouse: Like I said he ain't really a troll. Can't take of anyone on the site who trolls besides maybe Royal but our discord has some good moments.
Sargo: LB isn’t even top 20. The age of trolling is really dead. There are no quality ones left.
Without ratings right now can you guess how should the top 4 of the 2011 Draft goes (Kawhi, Kyrie, Klay, Butler)?
JR: Kawhi, Klay, Kyrie, Jimmy. Just my opinion.
Mouse: Kyrie, Klay, Kawhi, Butler.
Sargo: I think that order is safe. Kawhi should be a 25/8 wing with stocks. Kyrie always elite from what I remember. Klay will come in dropping 25 as well. Jimmy is himmy. Good class. Kemba too iirc.
Well freedom wall say anything you want friend.
JR: I want to say fuck you to everybody in this league, respectfully.
Mouse: Hope everyone has a great weekend and thanks for allowing me to join this wonderful league and community of amazing GMs with elite level knowledge on the beautiful game of FBB.
Sargo: SIM!!
