Well I got most of these responses before the hurricane was supposed to hit Atlanta, and then it moved East and we just got Tropical storm levels of rain and wind, but not hurricane. Questions were sent out after Sim 1 and right before sim 2. But anyways, see below:
1. What are your expectations for your team this year?
zinger - I expect to be around .500. We are a year or two away. Need to develop these guys.
douche - Back to back.
Braz - I think we have a chance of being pretty good and if we can find the right upgrade with trade very good but the West is tough this year so I’m just trying to have some fun and I do have a fun team.
nybombers3 - Don't really have any. I think whatever the best deals are, that's my direction. I think at the end of the day, I want to have this torn down by the start of next year so we'll see what happens this year.
2. The Thunder had a very good sim 1- but questions still remain about their bigs. Love got a max from them and didn't even start. And he doesn't block shots. Can they reset this season?
zinger - I am not a fan of those type of bigs but I guess we will see. Not confident it’s sustainable.
douche - hey have 12 home games thus far, they can reset yes, but they're due to revert to a .500 team. or low-mid 40 win team. Love is a waste of cap, and should have been traded to Steve for expiree 3 days ago. Take Duncan and get your surefire reset since you're not even playing Kevin Love break. Im kinda worry though, they have 2 negative block bigs, 4 TOPG PG a Negative Stock SF starting. But guess FBB randomness sometimes make things like this happen.
Braz - I think their biggest issue right now is that love contract. I would trade them to the Cavs or whatever they’re willing to give, but LMA and Solomon are balancing each other nicely and there’s enough points to go around for the team to stay pretty hot so far for the first two sims
nybombers3 - Let's get this out of the way. Love was an awful deal. Love was maxed because of his name and not because of anything he did before. That said I do think the Thunder will reset but it'll be a half assed one. Moves were made to just reset and not to win the title.
3. The East, as usual, is looking very good. I was going to ask you for what 8 teams you think will make the playoffs, but that's a lot. So tell me what you think the top 4 teams in the East will be and why.
zinger - Nets, Cavs, Celtics for sure - fourth is open… maybe the Magic? Hawks potentially.
douche - Last 3 champs are from the West and West looks competitive this year so why an East centered question SMH. Didn't even put whole league, you want me to praise the Hawks then brother? Unfortunately, I said like ten thousand times now, I'm not a fan of Sofo I've let go 4 bigs that are as good or way better than him the past 3 seasons (Bogut, Al Jeff, Oden, Amare), there are just too many bigs with similar skillset right now. When he was on a rookie contract, he looked special. EDITOR'S NOTE- look man I wasn't looking for praise but the East had a really good sim 1 and sometimes these questions happen ok??
Anyway back to topic probably not by standings but with how good the team are:
1. Celtics- Burks a game changer, nice gming jahn!!!
2. Nets - I like this team, his obssession with Conley though costed him John Wall
3. Cavs- Think this team is the best in the East on paper
4. Bucks- If only KG didn't regress that much ill put thim at 1, his contract gonna cost them some depth too if he doesn't retire next season.
I'll place Hawks 8 or 9, good for a reset though.
Braz - Celtics, Nets Knicks and bucks are built pretty deep. Celtics have 3 30 point guys. Nets are deep and have great stock to TO ratio and one of the best bigs. Knicks can score and the bucks have Russ and Klay and old man KG!
nybombers3 - Nets, Cavs, Celtics, Bucks. I think after that, Philly, ORL, ATL and Knicks/Hornets/Miami round things off. Obviously things are changing. Philly may or may not try to reset. Knicks same. Hornets may try to make more moves to reset. ORL and ATL need to make additional moves to make sure they land a spot. Miami as well.
4. Kobe retired at age 33. He'd been in the league for about 15 years, however, and retired as the league's all-time leading scorer. Were you surprised to see him retire relatively younger?
zinger - Yes, I don’t recall a player of his talent retiring so young. Kind of wild. Rough to lose him at 33.
douche - Well he is ducking that KD smoke! It's all random, but no, I haven't seen a 33 year old retire that early when he's an elite wing too.
Braz - I think that’s one of the craziest things I’ve seen in my entire life playing this game. He’s all-time scoring leader in the league as well. And we have much worse players going for much longer.
nybombers3 - I mean yeah. Kobe was still nasty. Him retiring made no real sense. He's a HOF for sure.
5. Someone said Steph was overrated- I personally disagree because he's just broken as a player when you input his stats into sim leagues when building him. What are your thoughts?
zinger - Hes a HOF player, he should be a head above the majority of players.
douche - He's way overrated lmao. Should have kept his stealing low, but he coincide with the pot boost so who knows, he's elite scorer, stealer, and handler lmao but nonetheless, as ive said multiple times too, you need a SUPERstar to win in this version of BBS.
Braz - He’s getting 42 points per game and barely won turnover and two steals. I know there’s a lot of good players. It just seems like too much. But how else would you build stuff? He’s one of the greatest point guards if not the greatest ever and Spencer is a Warriors fan so I mean it does add up. I’m gonna keep offering for him because he’s not going away.
nybombers3 - I mean, Steph should be nasty. Just kind of wild that he was nasty from the jump. Averaging 30.7 ppg in his rookie season is ridiculous. Lakers currently have that Melo Hornets thing going on. Maybe more so because Christ that roster looks flabby and sick.
6. A lot of crazy contracts were given out Day 1 of FA this season. Which was the worst, in your opinion?
zinger - Love max was brutal. KG getting 2/70 is wild but it’s only 2 years.
douche - Kevin Love- no stocks and his benched now too, max? ehh.
KG- who cares but might cost him depth next season
Joe Johnson- I'm pretty sure no one super maxed him. But better than losing him for free I guess? But letting chipper know that if he plans (he shouldn't, but he will probably will) to super max Sofo, he can't do it because of this contract. EDITOR'S NOTE- why is everyone obsessed with Sofo he's very good at what he does?? Let me have fun with Baby Shaq at center in peace. No plans to give him a supermax either. But yes- I also thought Joe's max was around 18 mil and miscalculated so it's about 4 mil higher than I thought but still fine. Only 3 years so I'll still get his prime and don't have to worry about the years following.
Amare- He's okay I guess, but he's old, Clippers can revert back to lotto in a few years, and these SuperMAX are hard to match for a team trying to trade for.
Braz - Kevin Love
nybombers3 - Love. The KG deal was rough but a mistake. I also didn't really like that JJ deal. I don't think anyone was going that high for him.
7. I'm about to get a probable hurricane over the next 24 hours at my place (Atlanta). The trajectory is showing it probably will still be a Category 1 when it's here- which wouldn't be great for this city but I'm sure it'll end up ok. My question is- have y'all ever gone through any hurricanes, earthquakes, forest fires, any other big-time natural disasters before? Editor's note- as I said above- we didn't actually get hit with the Cat 1 forces but did get a bunch of rain and wind.
zinger - We’ve had quite a few here on the east coast. Atlanta will be good! Stay safe
douche - There are natural disasters almost every month in the Philippines. Just like 2 months ago, I had no electricity for a week lmao.
Braz - Nothing like that but I’m pretty upset the Mets game got pushed. Hope everyone is safe. Get some flash lights batteries etc
nybombers3 - Hurricane Sandy was wild for NY. We thankfully didn't lose power but a lot of people I knew did. My wife's family backyard had a tree fall on it and they lost power for about 5 days. It was rough overall.
8. Any fun plans for the fall?
zinger - Fairs and football. That’s it.
douche - No fall in the Philippines, but midterms coming up plan to go to the beach after the exams.
Braz - Austin for a weir conference and a few other small weekend trips hopefully
nybombers3 - Hoping to move would be the main thing.
