1. What are your goals this off season for your organization?
Braz- now that I have returned from the homeland I’d love to reset and keep building but with the lack of FA and drafting another pg due to bpa I’m not very confident. Let’s see if I can deal?
Sargo- Wanted to add long term pieces and valuable players. We can tank one more season before the dreaded CY. Adding a top 5 prospect next year to JO, Ricky, Raef, Hughes, BJax should give me ammo to make moves to make CY and compete for a while.
Nyb- For now, add some talent. Hopefully build a team that can get 42 wins this year but we'll see. Ideally, have a team that can reset and still maintain cap space going forward. If we don't reset, we should at least have a solid core built up.
2. Who do you feel like was the steal of the draft? A player you think could be a diamond in the rough.
Braz- I mean the top 6 guys were pretty good. Bibby will prob be a stud in the right system. I think a steal would be nesby. Not many players coming in with good ratings and he has good inside jumper and steals. God knows why
Sargo- Nesby should have gone higher. I liked him a lot. If I stayed at 10, he was a strong candidate for me. My guy Jerome James might be a diamond in the rough. Elite strength and good blocks. I can focus on camping his rebounds and handles. He should be a good third big.
Nyb- Tyrone Nesby. I thought he was taken. I do think Dickerson is going to be a good scorer going forward but yeah. Nesby was the guy there. I'm hoping Boykins looks solid. His notes were pretty good I thought. His height/weight makes him less attractive but I think his notes/ratings on someone else might have had them picked earlier.
3. As far as the big 6 goes, who do you think will have the best career out of the Pierce, VC, Dirk, Bibby, etc group?
Braz- I hope Dirk but I think PP does but I guess it depends how you define career. Normally point guards over excel.
Sargo- Tough. I think all will be good, but I’ll go with Pierce, with Bibby as 2. Love both players
Nyb- Should be Dirk. His notes did scare me but I think he'll be a stud. After that, idk. All depends on potential and camps. All 6 should be good players for sure.
4. Staying on the topic of the draft, who is a player you think was picked a little too soon compared to his projection.
Braz- it was later in the draft but I had Harpering, Nesby and Bonzi over Dickerson and they went 4 in a row. I like the Harrington pick but at same time i can’t see him being good here.
Sargo- Cuttino Mobley or Raef. Mobley looks meh, but who knows. Raef probably could have gone a few picks later, but I loved his notes.
Nyb- I was surprised to see Cuttino gone as early as he was. Kandi as well. Neither were really wild though. I thought everyone else went about where they should have.
5. Any max worthy players this free agency? What about some other guys you're a fan of?
Braz- giving money to a few point guards since they stood out to me despite having two point guards. Fun times in Denver
Sargo- Max? No. This FA is pure ass. Just sim it all at once.
Nyb- Not really. It's hard with next year's actual potential FA coming up. There are a few guys I think can be solid role players but we'll see if I can land them.
6. Spurs and Celtics are the first 2 champions. Who do you see potentially being the 3rd? Or do we see one of these teams get a 2nd title?
Braz- Mavs! They were damn close and Hill is a franchise player. Could see Habes adding the right depth. Celts lost Rodman which could hurt and the spurs will surely lose their pg with Stocks
Sargo- The Mavs have a chance if they can continue to add. The Bucks look good, but need a big man. Either of these teams has a shot.
Nyb- I can see a team like the Mavs returning and winning it next year. It really comes down to who takes the least amount of losses this FA along with TC. Mavs don't really have any big FA's (I think) and their core isn't super old.
7. The debate of eliminating CY comes up frequently. What's your take on the matter?
Braz- looks likely I’ll be in cy along with like 6 others. The vets of the league are too strong compared to the youth and no FA hurts. Drazen was useless. I don’t know wtf we will do if 2+ teams don’t make it in year 4. 0 waitlist outside of Outlawz and we got rid of the Thunder GM after not logging on for 10 days. I like the cy idea someone proposed before where it’s 42 in year 4 or 45 in year 5. Just gotta use cy to prevent forever tanking and drive competition
Sargo- We have no GMs. It’s time to get rid of it or alter the system to have teams drop in the draft or something. No point in firing active GMs for non active GMs.
Nyb- Yeah. I think we should have made a change. It's rough because of our current situation of a low wait list. This stems from last league as well where spots were filled but it was rough times and sometimes, those filled spots were by guys that just didn't pan out a season or two into things.
8. How is your New Year going and are you keeping up with any resolution you might have had?
Braz- years been great I spent it with my family in Brazil and my wife loved them all. Couldn’t ask for more. I need to get healthier. The pants I wore to the airport are feeling tight after 10 days of steak, beer and fun
Sargo- Same question I asked in my RT. My New Year’s resolution was to stick w the gym more constantly… so far, so good. Usually need a trip or something in the future to keep me motivated. Going away in Feb and April so I should be good until then.
Nyb- Things are going ok. Just busy. Hopefully things slow down as the school year gets deeper. After school has started for me so working a few more hours now for a few days. As for resolution, eh. So far, not ideal. One day. Maybe. I just want more sleep. Not asking for a ton.
