1. How did your off season go? How does your team look and what are your expectations for your roster?
Braz- we had a good TC from a couple of guys and Camby didn’t move at all. Oddly the biggest play for us was a cap move to get Luc Longely who went +2 inclusive of his camps I gave him on blocks. Hopefully we are better than last year. I’d love to stop tanking
Sargo- I think we had a solid offseason. Was able to add two really good lottery picks in Raef and Hughes. Both had decent TCs and look like they’ll be contributors for us. As for this season, who knows. I wouldn’t shock me if we won 45 or if we won 15. Need to see the fellas sim.
Nyb- Ok I guess. I feel like we can make a move and make the playoffs but then, you know, making a move isn't easy as is. I was hoping Popeye would at least be a decent big but meh. He fell the fuck off. I think we'll miss the playoffs again but show progress.
2. Who are some players on your radar that had a standout training camp?
Braz- im excited to camp Bibby more now that he had a tc in him. I’ll likely also camp out fortson with the lack of bigs in the league. Billups had a great tc. The franchise.
Sargo- Brian Skinner had a nice TC and looks like a good third big. Other than that, it looked meh all around the league. None of the top guys in the draft exploded.
Nyb- No idea. I think Skinner and Doleac look like decent role players. Yes, they are my players but still.
3. On the flip side, who are some guys that disappointed you and didn't meet your expectations?
Braz- Camby hasn’t moved in 2 seasons despite his pot going down. Just not good at all. Seems we just changed Cy which is a saving grace.
Sargo- I would say all of the top picks were disappointing…that said, they’ll still be good players, but not one blew up. Tmac is another guy who looks like he won’t live up to expectations.
Nyb- Fuck Brad Miller. I know that's last year's draft but still. I thought Nesby would look better but he isn't bad.
4. Obviously the new CY rule came out today, what are your thoughts on it?
Braz- it solves all my immediate issues but I don’t love it for the long term. I like the idea of not firing GMs but I want to see competitiveness over all.
Sargo- 5 years is a long time. My only concern is that we don’t have replacement GMs which is why I suggested we get rid of the classic CY and drop those teams in the draft, but there’s a lot of variables. I’ll be fine with whatever is decided.
Nyb- I think we just need to move on from CY and figure out something different. Not sure what but I've heard pick dropping for the last few times we've had these talks. I'm ok with that. We do need a push to force teams to try and win.
5. Winners and losers of FA?
Braz- winner would be the Celtics for getting Don Ried since they are actually trying to win or the Raps improving with McGinnis. Sadly I think the grizz took the biggest L since the guy they gave a 4 year deal to seems like a total sham
Sargo- Was there a winner? Raps signed the only max guy in McGinnis but idk if he’s worth it. Kobe probably the loser of FA by default since he lost his starting PG for nothing
Nyb- Raptors won. I guess. McInnis looks solid for sure. Grizzlies I guess lost. Unless Fizer is amazing under the ratings, that's an annoying deal to have on roster.
6. What's an unexpected team that you can see maybe make some noise this year?
Braz- Let’s give Lumley a look. Mash is an incredible scorer and if he can trade Lumley futures for the right upgrades why not them? I could also see the raps taking a major step since Timmy D is a top player on the file and they added Jeff/ Dejan.
Sargo- Philly. They need to play Tmac at SG, but they have AI. Philly has the talent and the pieces, but not sure they fit. Would love to see Tmac dealt for wing + big and then add a cheaper PG. Could be a fun squad.
Nyb- Nuggets. Braz has some good assets and he seems to want to reset. I can see them resetting and doing something fun in the playoffs.
7. What's your early prediction for the Finals matchup this season?
Braz- Mavs/ Bucks
Sargo- I’ll go with the Nets and Spurs. Nets are an interesting squad and I love Big Ben.
Nyb- Celtics vs Mavs rematch
8. Aside from the CY debate is there any other rule or thing in place you think should be reassessed?
Braz- I’d like to see more winning incentives
