Another season another RT! With this one I must preface that the Cy rule was changed to no Cy after questioning those at the table
1. How does your plan change with the new cy rule?
Nanz - It doesn’t really. I don’t really like to tank and the goal is to try to get back to winning whenever possible. CY has never really dictated what I do to be honest, def not afraid of going into it because it is what it is. I hope @spence changes it back but I guess if he doesn’t then I’ll make an even bigger effort to play Kobe at the 5?
mouse - Doesn't really change anything as I wanted to make playoffs either this year or next. If anything it does allow me to be a little more patient with TMac as I wouldn't have minded maybe moving him for an elite SF. But now I'm okay with seeing what he can do as our starting SF. I think Dee Brown having a good TC gives us a good enough PG, add in AI and Dyess, and I think we should be okay. Can start Keon at C and see what produces, and worse case scenario we miss playoffs this year we still have our pick. Next year we didn't so playoffs were the plan regardless.
Brophdog88 - What Cy rule, see I get the advantage of being slow and not answering before it was eliminated. Glad these questions could be made obsolete before I answered them.
2. Do you think it should only be for post restart or forever 5 years Cy
Nanz - I don’t think it should change but if it had to, I guess forever to keep it fair? Although I would like it to go back to normal so man this is a rough one. Maybe I’ll go with just restart I guess.
mouse - Unless the waiting list increases probably just keep it at 5 years, and like said in the thread maybe add some win requirements throughout the years to at least show improvement and effort.
Brophdog88 - I agree with no CY, penalize by tanking draft picks, somebody and I had hashed out a fairly reasonable solution. Just be more active firing gms not participating and there is no need for a CY, people make dumb decisions then get bailed out right now since the door at GM is revolving so quickly. Make them clean up their own mess, and if they quit, well, dont let em back without a penalty.
3. Who are the top 5 players on the file?
Nanz - 1. Kobe 2. MJ 3. Shaq. 4. Dikembe 5. David Robinson?
mouse - Shaq, MJ, Pippen, Sprewell, and G Hill? I did a quick look around. Honestly didn't pay much attention during these 2 seasons on other teams. Tanking makes it easy to not pay attention lol.
Brophdog88 - Shaq, MJ, Bryant, Kobe, Hakeem
4. Who are the top 5 most valuable players on the file?
Nanz - 1. Kobe 2. Timmy 3. Grant Hill 4. KG 5. Weber?
mouse -Probably Shaq, Hill, Spree from that list above and then probably the younger guys like a Duncan and recently drafted guys.
Brophdog88 - Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, then it gets tougher, but gonna put down Iverson (elite steals with offense), Ray Allen. Im sure Im missing somebody, tough to split Shaq and Duncan, probably duncan in front of shaq for better offense eventually and much cheaper.
5. How can we better incentivize winning with the new 5 year cy
Nanz - you can’t. 5 years is too much and its going to lead to more people just sitting on their teams and not trading at all. Forget it!
mouse -Winners wanna win and tankers are gonna tank. It is what it is, only thing that comes to mind is maybe do money pots and the teams looking to contend throw money in and every season there's money winnings for champion and runner up.
Brophdog88 - The contract structure for FA kinda forces your hand, you really cant hold that much in the way of MAX deals from tanking, plus its tough to tank, you tank to #1 2 years in a row good luck tanking again(unless you got a TMAC, in which case you need it)
With no CY, the draft can have more boom bust types early, that will help deincentivize tanking.
6. 100k post reward suggestions that won’t kill inflation
Nanz - oh vey nice ! 100K already?! Ummm something simple like an AC or 3 RCs? I don’t think we need to go crazy with pot boosts and 4th Acs. There are a lot of players left to camp and that should be plenty,
mouse - Wasn't here for the last one so not sure what was rewarded, but wouldn't mind an AC or something. Toward the end I did see a list of 5 different things we could choose from so ain't mad at that either.
Brophdog88 - Just another AC or two, I need many
7. Someone suggested a new lotto calculator to reflect current nba odds. Thoughts?
Nanz - Interesting… I kinda like the old way lotto of having it be crazy random but I get the point. I wouldn’t mind it and could be pretty fund to spice things up.
mouse - We did this in another league and people complained. There was some ridiculous jumps and just caused some unnecessary controversy. Keep it as is.
Brophdog88 - If it werent so much work for Spencer Id be for it. The big thing is you could do the lotto at the start of playoffs so things arent dragging for teams, and they can make trades with what they have. Might see a bit more movement at the top of the draft. (Id still do it even with the odds as they were in FBB was made). but its a lot of work to have to sort out who has what picks and correct the order and such for Spencer, so ehh.
8. What was your favorite part of TC?
Nanz -Best part is as always seen these young dudes be DAWGS. Kobe keeps on going up which is awesome and Booger with a great outside defense and rebounds TC was awesome… love him! Shard not bad getting off with a +3. I love the core!
mouse - Keon Clark looking ready day 1 to be our starting center. Him and Dyess should be a nice front court for years to come. Also getting Dee Brown cheap and him going up is big for us too. Uncamped and rating wise he's pretty much identical to McInnis. I think as a starter he's gonna surprise some people.
Brophdog88 - Cherokee parks went +2 since he was stationed away from Portland for TC
9. Least favorite part of tc?
Nanz -Seen Big Z pretty much be a bust ☹ he was a good player and now he stanks!!!! I thought he could be a olid big B+ B+ type with some blocks but that dream is now gone!
mouse - TMac and Alvin Williams not having big jumps. Expected TMac to at least be B+ B+ and maybe C+ defense but maybe with the 2 remaining ACs we get him there.
Brophdog88 - Everything else, but Cato down D was pain
