1. Knicks - Manu Ginobili SG 6'6'' 205 22 B- B- C C+ C A
I think there are a couple different options here, but I think Manu is probably going to be the best player coming out of this draft. Has the potential to be a bonfided #1 option with two-way capabilities. Brand could go here but I am a little worried about his ability to be a premier shot blocker in this league which is what most GMs covet at the 4/5 position. David Wesley's long term status might make Andy pivot with this but I think Manu is BPA.
2. Lakers - Elton Brand PF 6'9'' 275 20 B C- C- C+ B A
I think this is a no brainer here for Nanz looking at his current squad, Brand comes in day #1 and provides a solid #2 option behind Kobe. Depending on what is going on with Ed Smith I think Baron could be looked at here. There are too many wings to really look at any one else.
3. Knicks (from Jazz) - Baron Davis PG 6'3'' 209 20 C+ C+ B- B C A
A couple different options here but I am almost convinced Baron is one of Spence's favorite players all time and will be a great PG in this league. I love the Baron, Manu 1/2 combo here. Some other guys could be looked at here but I think we start potentially losing two-way supreme functionality past Baron who can turn into great offensive/defensive studs.
4. Pistons - Ron Artest SF 6'7'' 260 20 B- C+ C A- C A
Detroit has some scoring issues so I think there are a lot of plays on the table however I think Artest makes the most sense. I think he has the easiest RC/AC roadmap of any of the remaining big names left. Camp the offense and ride the potential on the defense. If he can get to 20 PPG as a 3rd option this pick is quite the steal.
5. Hornets - Shawn Marion SF 6'7'' 220 21 B- C D+ B- B- A
Marion and Artest are interchangeable in my opinion however I think the former has a more difficult roadmap in order to properly develop him. He's never going to have a 3PT shot that is reliable with camps, so he turns into this tweener 3/4 type that is a little more difficult to navigate in winning lineups. There for sure is some fun flexibility you will be able to have with him but I prefer clarity in how I want to develop players more than the potential flexibility that a player might have.
6. Nuggets - Andrei Kirilenko SF 6'9'' 220 18 C+ C C+ B C+ A
He is going to be the best glue guy in the game, but I just don't ever see him being a force on offense no matter how much you camp him. The players picked before him have more potential to be more dynamic scoring options. Could do worse at 6 if I am being totally honest. With me it's probably some combination of Rebounds/Steals/Blocks from a camp prospective and just giving up on the offensive completely.
7. Blazers (from Rockets) - Richard Hamilton SG 6'6'' 185 21 B+ C C B C- B
I don't know how I feel entirely about Rip's ratings but he looks really good of the bat. Isiah Rider if he is in the long term plans is probably a good combo guard off the bench and not necessarily a starter. I think Rip has a pretty clear camp roadmap of 3PT Shooting/Steals/Handles if you want to invest the camps into him. Definitely has 3rd option type vibes on a contending team.
8. Pacers - Steve Francis PG 6'3'' 195 22 B C+ C+ C C A
I am going to preface that there are two guys in this projected lotto that I am not touching at all and Francis is one of them. This is not my BPA, but the Pacers are so loaded at the wing position that they either need to trade this pick or go Andre Miller. And while I like Miller to some degree, I don't think Royal takes Francis.
My experience in BBS with Francis is that his handles are pretty much so far gone to shit that he really only has any type of value with an immediate +8 on handles and a move to SG. Maybe we are wrong here but buyer beware.
9. Wolves - Corey Maggette SF 6'6'' 218 20 B+ C C C C B
I am salivating over Bibby-Carter-TMAC with Maggette as the 1-2-3 combo off the bench who puts 20 PPG a game. Maggette has always been a fun player in BBS and has always had the game to eclipse 20 PPG as some type of combo wing or as a 3rd option. I haven't looked at the Wolves camping issue, but it might be tough to camp all these young guys which might hurt his value a little. However, I think Maggette projects long term as a solid 3rd option and should have a level Stock/TO ratio
10. Blazers - James Posey SF 6'8'' 215 23 C B C- B+ C B
I love Posey. Love how he fits into DC's. Might not be the most ideal guy for the Blazers roster as of this writing but he will always hold some level of value around the league for what he provides.
11. Wolves (from Heat) - Lamar Odom SF 6'10'' 220 20 C+ C+ B C C+ A
So I will shout for the top of the mountain top when I say this. I AM NOT TOUCHING ODOM WITH A 10 FOOT POLE IN THIS LEAGUE. Last BBS he was such a flawed player and I don't think his skills translate well to the sim engine. If I am an Odom owner on day one I have absolutely no idea how I want to camp him, I have no idea how I want him ideally fit into my roster and I don't know what level of value he will ultimately have. There is so much ambiguity with him which ultimately results in red flags.
However we are now at a point where everyone from here on out is somewhat flawed to a degree. The Wolves have such a plethora of youth they can swing on Odom and if he fails should be in pretty good shape. Buyer beware.
12. Magic - Andre Miller PG 6'3'' 200 23 C+ C B B C- B
Andre is a good player. Never will be great but can be a starting PG on this league on a pretty good team. Solid pick at 12.
13. Hawks - Jason Terry SG 6'2'' 185 22 C B B C D+ B
Terry's rebounding kind of kills him at SG. Will be a very good combo 1/2. Could do worse at 13. Probably needs to be camped in too many places to be a reliable starter in the long term.
I think there are a couple different options here, but I think Manu is probably going to be the best player coming out of this draft. Has the potential to be a bonfided #1 option with two-way capabilities.
