1. How's FA gone for you so far?
Jayda - FA was decent for me, all I really cared about was re-signing Allan Houston. I did lose out on Dale Davis because I wanted to try to sign a max player before I re-signed Allan. Not a big deal as I signed Antonio Davis back, and got Sean Elliot for the MLE. Hoping I can sign another big not sold on Battie getting big minutes yet.
Braz - At first I was sad not signing anyone on day 1. However day 2/3 I got all my birds fillers and used my cap prior for Glenn Robinson who was a creation draft target of mine and Gheorge. I’m Stacked on big men now so hoping we can Gel. Feels good to hopefully not suck.
Nate The Great - FA went about as expected to be honest. I like everyone else had dreams of landing a big fish like Bradley or Marbury (more so to trade tbh) but once that was over I turned to fortify the bench. Danilovic will provide some nice bench scoring and hopefully before the last day I can maybe add one more big and I’ll be set!
2. What contract do you think was the best in FA so far?
Jayda - FA was decent for me, all I really cared about was re-signing Allan Houston. I did lose out on Dale Davis because I wanted to try to sign a max player before I re-signed Allan. Braz - I think this free agency was less about value but more about asset retention an acquisition. A team could go from having a star to not pretty quickly. Some liked breaks cheap signing of Wil Purdue. I liked the Nick Van Exel deal if he improves since it seems a lot of teams need pg (Chip's note- I agree. NVE was a great deal. quicky did amazing here)
Nate The Great - Seems like everybody offered Shawn Bradley some form of a max so to get him back on a deal only for 3 years is good gains to me.
3. What contracts do you look at and think "good god that's an overpay"?
Jayda - JR - Dejan Bodiroga. I know he can score but hes not worth it. He is a solid player probably only max he got was from the Raptors.
Braz - Divac but ya had to. Pippen but he had to. The guy the raps signed, Dejan, massive $ my god hope it works out
Nate The Great - Im not really too mad at any of the contracts to be honest because of how loaded FA was this year. I will say for what he brings I think a full max for Dejan is a bit rich for my blood. But he should be close to a 20 point scorer so hopefully that works out.
4. Hype up your draft picks for us.
Jayda - James Posey should fit nicely into my team. Needed a cheap replacement for Horry who was great. I think Posey will be the defender we need hoping he can bring a little more offense then Horry did.
Braz - Rip will be a stud. Not my pick but the heats. He traded me Zo so I have nothing bad to say. I mean a SG with elite jumper, good inside. He will score lights out.
Nate The Great - well mostly everybody killed my trade to acquire Elton Brand but I’m happy with it. Maybe he wasn’t in anybody’s plans in a trade for #2 but he just fits what I’m doing so well. I don’t expect his stocks to be disgusting as he was a decent defender so as long as he can get to a block and a half or so his offensive upside is too good to pass up. Between Bibby, Carter, McGrady, and Brand I should have a lethal offense for years to come.
5. We haven't seen TC yet, but any teams in particular you think look like a particular force to be reckoned with this season?
Jayda - I think the Nuggets are gonna be really good if they can find another scorer. Their bigs are probably the best in the league right now.
Braz - I’m hoping we made the largest year over year improvement. Adding the dream, zo, Gheorge, Glenn Rob so far. We sucked balls last year. Also the pacers and thunder are improving.
Nate The Great - Itll be fun to compete against Braz in the division this year. Both of us have been tanking basically since the start of the league and I really like what he did trading for Zo (even though this is the same deal I’ve been offering to Eddy for the last 2 seasons….) If TC goes right for me maybe we can get a little rivalry going.
6. What player picked at 16 or later in this draft do you think will have the best career?
Jayda - I think Devean George was the best player taken. He is a defensive stud already. Camp that offense and he will be a great 4th/5th starter.
Braz - I like Raja Bell or Gordan Giricek to develop into a starter. Wang has the pot and cc is good at development of shitty players so maybe him.
Nate The Great - I’m not a huge fan of any of these guys to be completely honest but to speak more on MY team if Calvin Booth can turn into at least a above average stocks big think that’ll hold the most value. Hard to find!
7. Over $2 billion was spent on FA Day 1. Will we ever see anything anywhere close to that again in this version of the league?
Jayda - Never again. This FA was crazy because a lot of great players tested. Now most will re-sign and FA will never be this loaded.
Braz - I don’t think it’s possible since contracts won’t all expire same time. Was wild
Nate The Great - Indoubt it but you never know. Personally I would take a little less luster in terms of players testing in exchange for some actual movement.
8. Who wins this weekend in the NFL- Lions/Niners, and Chiefs/Ravens?
Jayda - Im a niners fan so Niners gonna beat the Lions, hopefully. I think the Ravens are going to win as well, just hard to bet against Mahomes in the playoffs.
Braz - lions and ravens!
Nate The Great - Fuck both of these teams to be honest. Lions are a NICE story and bringing sadness to JR, Royal and my friend Ahsan is definitely intriguing so I will say them. It feels to me this is a Lamar Jackson year so I’ll say the Ravens on the other side. At the end of the day bet LAMAR
